Machines, washer extractors, washing tumblers and coin-operated machines, have already been installed. The usage charges have not been fixed yet, and it will be worked out by the Joint Commissioner-I, TPS Phoolka, in consultation with the Municipal Commissioner.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has proposed to convert the eight existing dhobhi ghats into fully automated laundry marts.
The total cost of the project is envisaged to be around Rs 3 crore.
The modernisation of Sector 15 D dhobhi ghat was initiated as a pilot project. In the current financial year, the MC had allocated Rs 25 lakh for it. The deadline to complete the project was September 30 last year.
Monitoring panel meets to evaluate progress of projects
A meeting of the Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of UT Finance Secretary was held today to monitor the progress of projects sanctioned by the Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi, for setting up of model facilities for the management of municipal solid wastes. Besides, UT Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar, the chairman of monitoring committee, Mayor Pardeep Chhabra, Municipal Commissioner R K Rao and members of the CPCB attended the meeting. In the meeting, it was decided that all the Sehaj Safai Kendras (SSKs), work on which is in progress, would be completed by July 31. A decision was also taken to use Rs one crore saved from the various projects on the filling of remaining dumping ground land. During the meeting, members reviewed the progress achieved under phase-I of the CPCB demonstration project. In the first phase Rs 315.36 lakh has been approved.
