Coimbatore, November 16: Rejecting AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa's demand for his resignation over the issue of law students clash in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday alleged that AIADMK seemed to be behind the campus violence.

"It appears as if they had incited the students to indulge in violence so as to seek my resignation," he told reporters in Coimbatore, when asked about the demand made by Jayalalithaa and her ally MDMK chief Vaiko.

Defending the police, who came in for condemnation from many quarters for "standing mute spectators" when one group of students brutally attacked another group, he said if the police had entered the campus, media would have projected it in entirely different way.

"Had the police entered the campus, the headlines in the papers would have been different -- against police," he said.

Three students were injured in the clash on Wednesday. A day after the incident, the government had transferred city police commissioner R Sekar and joint commissioner of police Abhay Kumar Singh. Besides assistant commissioner of police Narayanamurthy and inspector Sekar Babu were suspended, while four sub-inspectors were shifted out of the city.

Law college clash: CM says AIADMK hand, defends cops by Kumar on 19 Nov 2008

Any body remember what Karunanidhi told during 2006 election? He first said "when 'cheetahs' (viduthalai siruthaikal) can be in their (AIADMK) partners why can't Lions (Karthik's newly formed party had Lion as its symbol) can be their partners. This he said becoz Jayalalitha didnot accept Karthik at that election. And afterwards when a reporter asked him "whether your words make any caste problems, Karunanidhi told "I CANT DO ANYTHING IF THERE IS A CLASH BETWEEN 'ANIMAL CASTES' (miruga jathikal). Karunanidhi referred both Thevars and SCs as 'Miruga jathikal' but no body made this as a big issue. Had Jayalitha told this she would have been smashed by Karunanidhi by stating her caste. But now Karunanidhi started crying to defend A.Raja by stating his caste and says that every one talking about Raja's telecom scam because A.Raja is an SC.

Attack on law college students by A.NATARAJAN on 17 Nov 2008

If the allreged statement of the CM in blaming the AIADMK for the violence in the Law College, whether he is going to say that the Police were also influenced by them to be mute spectators under such circumstances. Then what is the control he has on the law enforcing agency, which is under his direct control. Let CM not make such irresponsible statements. His first priority should be to bring to books the persons responsible for such violence and the conspiracy behind the same. Instead of that, let him not side-track the issue.

law college? by aruna on 17 Nov 2008

It is Karunanidhi style always divert the fact by mixing politics. Any human seeing the brutality of that scene staged in Madras Law college will not tried to make it politics. But our beloved old man can do anything for his political milage. It is not human act. Asking a CM to resign for each and every small mistake is JJ's style because she is hungry of power for long time. Anyway it is Tamil nadu politics always these two machos want in power and do anything except good to people to stay in power. It is Law college which makes law guardians of India. Just imagine how these students will behave when they qualify as lawyers.
