New Delhi, January 29 A senior criminal lawyer was found dead in his chamber in the Tis Hazari courts on Tuesday. According to the police, Om Prakash (58) was reportedly an alcoholic and had possibly died of a stroke. The cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report comes out. The police has ruled out murder. Om Prakash did not leave any suicide note behind but his family members are being asked if he was depressed.

The police received a PCR call around 10.30 am from Tis Hazari from the deceased’s wife. She went to Om Prakash’s chamber today when he did not come home for two days. He was found lying on the floor in his chamber in the west wing of Tis Hazari.

The chamber was locked from inside. Om Prakash’s wife had to reportedly take help from some lawyers to break it open. Police found two bottles of liquor from the chamber. There were no external injuries on the body. The police said that it seemed a natural death. A lawyer informed the police that Om Prakash was an alcoholic and used to regularly stay late in his chamber and drink alone.

“It could be a heart attack,” said a police officer. The police added that they have not come across any financial dispute, any property dispute or brawl with any family members. “There was also no reason for him going into depression,” added the officer.
