Colombo Buoyed by string of recent military success against the LTTE as the Army has pushed them from nearly all their strongholds, Sri Lanka has once again asked the beleaguered rebels to surrender to facilitate the safe exit of Tamil civilians.

Sri Lanka has appreciated the stand of world community including the UN for asking the LTTE to lay down arms.

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has said laying down of arms by the Tiger rebels will enable the Government to open highways to bring in the distraught Tamil civilians into the Government held areas.

"They (LTTE) must lay down arms so that there is no need for us (to launch attacks on them). You can then have an open highway in terms of getting the civilians out of the clutches of the LTTE," Bogollagama told reporters.

"This is what we have been telling the international community and the international community's call has now come on the LTTE to lay down arms.

"We want to see to ask LTTE to lay down arms and free the citizens. It is against the humanitarian laws," he said The UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Sir John Holmes during his recent visit to Sri Lanka had echoed similar views, Bogollagama said, "what LTTE is doing is a total violation of International Humanitarian law."

LTTE CONCRIPTION by SHM on 01 Mar 2009

The picture published clearly shows they are children in their early teens. There is no doubt that they are conscripted by force depriving their education and without their parents' knowledge. Once the Tamil community was regarded as the highly educated community in Sri Lanka but not anymore due to the forced conscription. The best option for the LTTE at the moment is lay down their arms send these kids back to school to give relief for their yearning parents. In the meantime, release all the civilians whom once the LTTE said going to liberate. Yes, the liberation these innocent civilians seek now is from the LTTE. At the same time we warn the government that a victory over the LTTE is not the final solution but the minority grievances should be addressed to without any delay. We all need peace in our country and we need the same harmony existed among all communities before the short sighted communal politicians ruined it. The government should ban all communal politicians.

Brutal Sinhala War Criminal regime sheds crocodile tiers by V Siva on 01 Mar 2009

GOSL is the worst violator of Human Rights in South East Asia according to the Asian Centre for Human Rights in New Delhi, India. There are several International organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, ICRC, Doctors without Borders and others have enormous eveidence of War Crimes and Human Rights abuses by the Rajapakse regime. Bogollagama must allow International War Crimes and UN Human Rights investigators into Sri lanka to investigate rather than giving bogus and news that full of lies. Once the dust is down, Tamils from all over the World will continue to protest against Sri Lankan regime and their collaborators for War Crimes and Human Rights abuses until the victims receive justice. This crisis has united Tamils from most countries together and Tamils are happy that Tamils Nadu politics is rapidly changing to the benefits of Tamils.
