LeT militant held with SIM cards

Jammu Foiling an attempt of supply of SIM cards to the militant outfits, state police have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant from Batote area of mountainous district of Ramban falls on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, on Wednesday night.

Official sources informed that the arrested militant has been identified as Mohammad Yasin of Chambalwas area of adjoining town of Banihal and some SIM cards and weapons have been recovered from his possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Sunil Dutt informed that the arrested Lashkar militant was on the way from Doda to Banihal to deliver a pistol and SIM cards to LeT top commander Abu Moosa, hiding somewhere in the forest area of Banihal, when arrested.

SSP further said that three SIM cards of a private telecom company and one Chinese pistol have been seized from the militant. He added that the militant tried to give police a slip at a checking point in Batote town but was chased by a police and nabbed later in the night.

During preliminary questioning, the militant revealed that he had reached Batote from Doda on Thursday night and had to leave for Banihal the next day to hand over the consignment to Abu Moosa.

It was not the first incident or arrest of a militant with the recovery of SIM cards but earlier state police have foiled many nexus of supply of SIM cards to them. But, now police is investigating on whose name the SIM cards were registered and who were the people arranged these cards from a private telecom company for LeT cadre, official sources added.
