On Left parties' continued opposition to the deal, Congress spokesman M Veerappa Moily said that ‘they are only expressing their views. Sometimes they are vociferous. They are reasonable people and I am optimistic we will be able to convince them. However, we are making progress and I am hopeful it will come through.”
He said talks on the deal is ‘progressing in the right direction’ and hoped it would come through without any hitch.
Moily said, "anything which is good for India in the long run must be done. The deal will open up trade and commerce with other countries."
About the possibility of the former Karnataka Chief Minister, who is nurturing aspirations to return to the state political scene, contesting the coming assembly elections, he said, "the party high command will decide it."
