"They are suffering from the Stockholm syndrome, enjoying, even while they are suffering," Congress media department chief M Veerappa Moily said, asking the Left to come out of this.
"The Left seem to have adopted a destructive role. I appeal to them to play a positive role," said Moily.
Referring to an editorial in the CPM mouthpiece which said the Left party would do ‘anything’ to prevent the nuclear deal and the UPA government getting the numbers, Moily said, "what do they mean by anything, horse-trading. They are compromising the interests of the country".
He said, "even if the numbers of NDA, Left and the Bahujan Samaj Party are combined, they are no way close to the halfway mark".
Moily said these parties want to ‘destabilise the entire politics and democracy’ of the country.
Accusing the BJP of following a communal agenda, Moily alleged that the Left has joined the bandwagon.
Attacking the Left, the Congress leader asked, "we want to know from Prakash Karat as to when did the Left join the BJP family."
Referring to the meeting between the Left leaders and BSP chief Mayawati, he said the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was facing charges before the Supreme Court. "Karat goes there and meets her. Is there no morality involved here?" asked Moily.

In fact Left is suffering from its stupidness for supporting Congress led Coalition for long four years and they have to pay the price on the issue of Soaring prices, High inflation and on import of rotten wheat and keeping mum. N-Deal is one issue but the other issue will not only bring the UPA government down but will also hit the Leftist hard in the forthcoming elections. It is also worth mentioning here that Left suffered most from the "BJP coming into power Syndrome" and forgetting the plight of poor and the middle class. N-Deal issue is in limelight just to divert public attention from the important and major issues of Price rice, Inflation and Lawlessness.
Bravo Veerappa Moily! Finally the Congress is giving to the Left what they deserve. Wish they had done this during the last 60 years. The Left and its slavish intelligentsia have had a stranglehold on India's institutions for the past 6 decades, and their self-flagellating ways are a chief reason why India and Indians in general are still so lacking in confidence when dealing with the world. The net result of the proposed nuclear deal is going to be more relaince on the west (US and Europe). Even today, Indian Government is taking most of its economic, political and religious decisions on the guidelines of Christian Imperialism. If we sign the nuclear deal, the US will twist our arms every now and then by imposing sanctions in supply of spare-parts and uranium. Moreover, significant amount of our country's wealth will be exploited by the US for their technological knowledge of nuclear power generation. Therefore, India should refrain from signing the agreement. Rather, it should develop other indigeneous technologies for power generation. I must thank the left parties for breaking up the unholy alliance with Congress.

Sadly, the situation has come to this pass. It speaks volumes about the entrenched immaturity of Indian democracy. Why should a national interest like Indo-US nuclear cooperation should have to bring down a well established government in India? Stockholm syndrome is applied to individual, not groups of people, surely not to a political party. That would be travesty of truth.---- A victor always invokes awe and China's appeal to the populace in its proximity can not be wished away. Fear also would have played a role in it. The import of N-deal is profound; either lead to decimation of Communists or their transformation to a healthy purple. Hope it is latter. As market economy blooms to provide necessities and prosperity to the populace, the de-communised Left would have a crucial contributory role to play. That would need a healing touch and assimilative ethos. The strivings of Left need not go in waste, let their idealism and finer emotions mingle in our polity. Stockholm Syndrome refers to the emotional attachment of the captives towards the captor, as in hostage or kidnap situation. The term is also used for someone showing loyalty to the dominant abuser. It is just a defensive mechanism of mind under duress. So, the use of term in the present case make any sense? 'Enjoying while suffering' can not be called Stockholm Syndrome.
A bit odd...On the one hand he says they won't even get to the half way mark and on the other he says they are destabilising the country's democracy. Is this man stupid?
