Beijing, August 21: Ukraine's heptathlon silver medalist Lyudmila Blonska looks set to be disqualified and face a life ban for a second doping offence after she was removed from the long jump finalists’ list on Thursday.

The 30-year-old, who has already served a two year ban after testing positive for a steroid in 2003, failed the dope test after methyl-testosterone, an anabolic steroid, showed up on it.

The IOC Disciplinary Commission met on Thursday after her B sample had been tested and decided to remove her from the list for Friday's final.

"The Disciplinary Commission agreed to temporarily suspend Lyudmila Blonska ahead of the Executive Board meeting on Friday," an IOC source said.

"Common sense would dictate that it looks likely to be a formality to disqualify her," added the source, who said that they did not know the result of the B sample.

Should the executive board strip Blonska of her medal, the silver would go to American Hyleas Fountain while Tatiana Chernova of Russia would receive the bronze.

Her place in the long jump final has been taken by Nigerian Blessing Okagbare, who finished 13th in qualifying.

Blonska's is the fifth drugs case of the Beijing Games.

Spanish cyclist Maria Isabel Moreno tested positive for EPO, North Korean shooting medalist Kim-Jong-Su (betablockers), Vietnamese gymnast Do Thi Ngan Thuong (diuretic) while Greece's rarely seen 2004 Olympic 400 metres hurdles champion Fani Halkia, tested positive for steroids at a training camp.
