Opening Spell
After acquiring the franchise of the Kolkata team, Shah Rukh Khan is on a no-holds-barred promotional campaign. The actor has reportedly roped in good friend Ganesh Hegde to choreograph and direct a music video for his team of Sourav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting and others. Whether the video would feature SRK is not confirmed, but Vishal-Shekhar, who composed music for Om Shanti Om, are set to recreate the magic for cricketers.
Just Shoot Them
You have seen them all, a man standing amid mannequins, the froth in a dozen teacups, bangled hands kneading the dough for rotis, a hand on a carrom board, a little girl in a candy-pink dress, a red tomato held up like a clown’s nose on a wrinkled face. But there is a quirkiness, an inescapable playfulness to the compositions of photographer Jasmeen Patheja that even everyday moments become captivating.
At “Running Amok”, an exhibition of her latest works in the Capital, the 28-year-old from Kolkata says, “I do not go in search of an idea. Whenever I travel, my camera is my best companion. These works are from a series of scenarios and interactions over the past seven years.” Even as she admits that her brand of candid photography can be downright invasive, she says she usually chats with people to build a rapport and judge the vulnerability of an individual before the camera. Go if you want to see Everyman, woman, child and absurdity.
The exhibition at Triveni Kala Sangam is on till March 17
