New Delhi, January 8 Minister of Education Arvinder Singh Lovely visited some government schools on Tuesday and suggested ways to improve their “ambience and environment”. He visited Government Senior Secondary Schools No 2, No 3, Govt Girls/Boys Senior Secondary School DDA flats, Govt Girls/Boys Senior Secondary School DDA colony in Kalkaji and SPM Govt Senior Secondary School, CR Park in south Delhi.

The education minister said, “Apart from educational support, there is an urgent need to improve the environment in schools to prompt students to perform better.” He said the government will take steps to encourage students to improve their English and compete with private school students and seek jobs with BPOs and KPOs. The minister proposed to construct new buildings, classrooms, playgrounds, libraries, labs, pools, basketball courts, gyms and amphitheatres; bore wells and a reverse osmosis system to provide drinking water for students. He said these facilities are a prerequisite for a better performance in academics and in life.

He directed civil engineering department officials to complete work in the schools within 45 days and apprise him of the situation in the next education meeting.
