‘Luck By Chance’ and ‘Victory’ fail in the international market

Luck by chance

Mumbai Much was riding on the two new releases, ‘Luck By Chance’ and ‘Victory’, but the response to them has been ice-cold. Released extensively in the international markets, ‘Luck By Chance’ is below average in America, but a major letdown in U.K. On the other hand, ‘Victory’ is a supreme disaster in U.K. The films haven't worked in Australia as well.

Weekend: January 30 - February 1, 2009.

U.K. BOX-OFFICE

‘Luck By Chance’ has debuted at No. 21 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 73,822 [approx. Rs. 50.95 lacs] on 50 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,476.

‘Chandni Chowk To China’ [last weekend: No. 21, this weekend: No. 28]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 16,739 on 30 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 558. Total: £ 4,79,110 [approx. Rs. 3.31 crores].

‘Raaz - The Mystery Continues’ [last weekend: No. 23, this weekend: No. 29]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 13,052 on 10 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,305. Total: £ 73,512 [approx. Rs. 50.86 lacs].

‘Victory’ has debuted at No. 36 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 4,855 [approx. Rs. 3.36 lacs] on 14 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 347.

‘Padikkathavan’ [Tamil film; last weekend: No. 32, this weekend: No. 43]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 2,600 on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,300. Total: £ 15,176 [approx. Rs. 10.53 lacs].

‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ [last weekend: No. 36, this weekend: No. 46]: In its eighth weekend, the film has collected £ 2,339 on 5 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 468. Total: £ 14,99,093 [approx. Rs. 10.40 crores].

‘Ghajini’ [last weekend: No. 35, this weekend: No. 50]: In its sixth weekend, the film has collected £ 1,703 on 3 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 568. Total: £ 7,28,887 [approx. Rs. 5.06 crores].

‘Villu’ [Tamil film; last weekend: No. 31, this weekend: No. 55]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 896 on 3 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 299. Total: £ 1,34,155 [approx. Rs. 93.32 lacs].

U.S.A. BOX-OFFICE

‘Luck By Chance’ has debuted at No. 32 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 2,16,918 [approx. Rs. 1.06 crores] on 61 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 3,556.

‘Chandni Chowk To China’ [last weekend: No. 38, this weekend: No. 52]: In its third weekend, the film has collected $ 17,409 on 25 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 696. Total: $ 9,12,585 [approx. Rs. 4.46 crores].
