Ludhiana, January 6
The newly-constructed Ludhiana bus terminus has been named after martyr Sukhdev. Disclosing this, Master Mohan Lal, Transport Minister, Punjab, said that the bus stand has been constructed at a cost of Rs 17 lakh. It will be inaugurated by Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister of Punjab, on January 11. Talking to media persons, Master Mohan Lal said, "During the inaugural function, family members of martyr Sukhdev will be honoured. And the bus stands of Punjab which are under construction will be named after martyrs so that the new generation may get inspiration from these martyrs."
He further said that the Pathankot bus stand will be named after Maharana Partap, the Jalandhar bus stand will be named after Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and the Phagwara bus stand will be named after Dr B R Ambedkar. Currently, nine bus stands in the state are under construction. He said that 300 new buses will also be added. "Under the kilometre scheme, air conditioned and luxury buses will be introduced. And the bus fare of these buses will be just 10% more than the normal bus fare," he said.
