The girl was returning home with her friend in their car after shopping at Great India Palace mall in Sector 39 of Noida when the incident took place at around 5 pm on Monday in Sector 121, police said.
Five youngsters identified as Husain, Srikant, Sanjay, Sudhir and Gautam were arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with the case while police is on a hunt to nab five others who are believed to be involved in the crime.
All of them were picked up from Ramgarhi Choukandi village, where they reside, within 12 hours of committing the crime, Superintendent of Police (Noida City) Ashok Tripati said.
The accused were in the age group of 18 to 25 years and some were under-graduate students.
In an FIR lodged with Noida Police early Tuesday morning, the friend of the second-year MBA student, residing in South Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, claimed the motorcycle-borne youths waylaid them near a drainage.
"Amit Talwar, the friend, said that while they had travelled about 900 metres from the mall, some motorcyclists overtook them and waylaid them. They forcibly entered the car and one of them started driving," Tripati said, adding the youngsters were carrying cricket bats and wickets.
After driving for some time, the official said, the youngsters reached an isolated place where they allegedly raped the girl.
They left the girl and her friend there after taking away their mobile phones, he said.
However, Tripati claimed that the accused during questioning had told that the victim and her friend were not driving the car but were talking to each other when they intercepted them near the drainage.
"There has been some contradictions in the statement given by the complainant and that of the accused," Tripati said, adding they will investigate the matter.
Initial medical examination of the girl has revealed no internal injuries, Tripati said.
"We are waiting for the final pathological report. We will not spare anyone in this case as this crime is unpardonable," he said.
Asked how police zeroed in on the culprits, the senior police official said the youngsters were coming back after playing cricket and were carrying the cricket kit with them.
"We investigated which all are the local teams playing cricket and zeroed in on the suspects," Tripati said adding two motorcycles, cricket bats, wickets, helmets and three mobile phones were recovered from the accused.
He said the arrested youth have no past criminal records.
The victim is admitted to a hospital and her condition is stated to be stable.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
In New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Vikram Singh said police will ensure that all culprits will be booked.
"We have arrested five persons in this regard. We will ensure that all culprits are booked," Singh said on the sidelines of Chief Ministers Conference on internal security.
A test-identification parade of the accused is likely to be conducted on Monday, a senior police official said adding the accused have confessed to the crime.
Sanjay, one of the accused, claimed that one of their friends saw the girl and the man inside the car in an intimate position.
"We were ten people. We were returning after playing cricket. One of us saw the girl and the boy inside the car and then we forced ourselves inside the car," he said outside a court.

According to me, such rapists should be punished in Public Places, on daily basis, untill they will ask themselves DEATH PENALTY.

No rapist should be allowed to go free.A fast track Court must be set for the case, if found guilty the culprits must be hanged to death.

Rapist has a psycho disorder, law should be positively implemented to discourage these psycho disorder, on this issue i suggest after seeing so much disgusting situation that ultimately abuses women a separate police and force department should be created to deal with such gender abuses which is more sensitive and victim can and feel safe physically and emotionally.

This is a horrific crime, cannot imagine the trauma of the victim. Hope she finds the strength to cope with this. No punishment is bad enough for the culprits. They should be publicly humiliated and hanged. If their parents have any decency, they will disown them this very second. And if there is any justice in the world, they will pay in full for their inhuman behavior.

Truly, rapists must be hanged to death. But it seems as if the intimate position of the victim with her friend inside the car prompted the youth, who were between 18 to 25 years, to do the wrong. Had the girl followed the Indian culture and resisted her friend not to indulge in such activity on a roadside, in a car, perhaps, the crime might not have been committed.

I am a young girl, an am disgusted with such news. I realize that women are not really safe anywhere. The culprits need need to be hanged after being castrated in public. some Magistrate must give this punishment to them so as to be an ey-opener for others. They dont have any values for Women. They need to be castrated and then hanged in public. Nothing else.
None should be spared in this case. And friends we should insure that the media does not leave the case untouched until and unless they are punished. Important cases are just left unnoticed after initial publicity, and no justice is given.
indian courts must introduce new system of hanging such people. if they starts this sys there may be a chance of redection of such crimes . we should not show mercy on such people. i dont think so indian courts will give justice in her case.

This is a case that should be thoroughly dealt with. The rapists must face the law. I dont really think it's important whether the girls were talking or driving when attacked and raped. The were raped and it is an offence!
The incident shows how the morality of youngsters reaches the lowest level. whether on the part of accused who raped or on the part of those who usually used isolated place to satisfy their sexual desires. Both of them are the part of crime. But who will take responsibilty to eliminate these, whether only police activity is desirable or the society also should take some responsibility to eliminate these acts? This is the big question.
