The dindi will start from Pune and will complete its journey at Pandharpur in 18 days. These National Service Scheme ( NSS) students will be provided with training about various non-conventional energy and energy conservation gadgets. This information will be delivered by NSS students to the people participating in the dindi.
MEDA has not only done extensive work in the field of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation but also have taken efforts to create mass awareness about the increasing need of use of renewables in day to day life. Energy conservation has also been one of the major thrust area for MEDA. Various medias like electronic, print, arranging workshops, exhibitions etc have been utilised effectively to reach masses in the rural areas.
This year MEDA has decided to utilise the manpower of National Service Scheme students of Pune University to spread the awareness about the renewables and energy conservation gadgets and schemes. NSS has done remarkable work in the field of social work at National level.
During the journey as well as halts taken by the dindi these NSS volunteers will spread information about the energy problems, global warming issues and othersthrough the Kirtans, street plays/ dramas. To help this awareness campaign an exhibition van prepared by MEDA called “Aakshay Urja Rath and Palkhi” will also be included during this 18-day journey. This Rath and Palkhi will be the centre point of attraction for the people participating in the dindi. The Rath is well equiped with the prototypes of various renewable energy gadgets like solar water heating system, solar dryer, biogas, solar home lighting system and water pumping windmill.
