Patna, October 21: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday expressed grief and shock at the killing of a Bihari examinee, who died in the violence unleashed allegedly by MNS activists on North Indian candidates, and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh for his family.

Pavan, a resident of Bara Khurd in Noorsarai police station limits of Nalanda district, was brutally assaulted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists, leading to his death when he had gone to Mumbai to appear in a railway recruitment examination.

"I am deeply pained and shocked at the killing of Pavan. May God give his family the strength to bear the huge loss. May his soul rest in peace," Kumar, who also hails from Nalanda, said in a condolence message.

Kumar said while the state government would give Rs 1 lakh to the family of the deceased, the rest 50,000 would be given from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

misleading by vasundahar on 21 Oct 2008

It is false and misleading to mention that the boy from Bihar died in Mumbai during protest by MNS activists. If it so than who carry his dead body to Bihar and during journey no one has noticed dead body including railway staff. This is high of durty politics adopted by most corrupted Laloo regim.

Raj is follwing the footsteps of his godfather Bal Thackerey. In the 70's he did simillar attacks on Non-Mahrastrians especially hailing ffrom South. In the 80's

Biharies by prasad on 21 Oct 2008

People are commenting, without knowing whether Pawan was killed due to attack by MNS. Remeber the people working with MNS are those, who have been denied jobs by Lalu, Nitish, Mulayam and gang. The railway recrutment exams, where this incident happened, were meant for Maharashtrians. Funny part is that Lalu has noe given advertiement for these exams in Hindi paper at Bihar and UP. Lalu should note that he will be also treated same way if he tries to enter Mumbai.

MNS attrocities by rajiv rangan on 21 Oct 2008

If Raj and MNS think that they can get extra miles for doing this nonsence, they are terribly mistaken, in fact they must be stupids. No Indian will appreciate what Raj and MNS are doing now. Dont they think that sometime they need to travel out of Maharashtra? Idiots!

act of utter disgrace...! by Raj on 21 Oct 2008

Bravo...MNS...! congrats on joining the elite group of terrorists....!! dont you feel ashamed of such heinous acts...!!! just imagine what would happen if Indians getting jobs abroad are to be faced with similar threats...I am sure many of the MNS activists have their relatives working abroad...just imagine your own kith and kin working abroad being beaten to death by locals...fight for your rights but with atleast with minimum levels of humanity...

Mr Raj should be arrested and tried for sedition for trying to subvert the constitution.

Shame on MNS by AN on 21 Oct 2008

This is shocking. As a Maharashtrian I hang my head in shame. At the end of the day we all are Indians first. Whatever be the grievance that MNS has, such atrocities should not be tolerated. Whatever goodwill that Raj may have generated with his support for the Jet Airways staff has now been nullified. I sincerely hope that he and his party never come to power.
