Bhopal A day after EC announced a two-phased polls for the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, ruling BJP and Congress in the state kick-started their campaigns by trading charges against each other.

While the ruling party accused the Congress-led government at the Centre of adopting a discriminatory attitude towards the state in supplying coal for production of power, the Opposition has rejected the charges as a "mere political stunt with an eye on votes" in the next Lok Sabha elections.

As per the poll schedule announced on Monday, polling in Madhya Pradesh will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 30.

A total of 13 constituencies will go to polls on April 23 and these include Bhopal, Vidisha, Hoshangabad, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, Shahdol (ST), Jabalpur, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Mandla (ST), Khajuraho and Betul (ST).

he other 16 constituencies which will go to the polls on April 30 are Morena, Bhind (SC), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Damoh, Tikamgarh (SC), Rajgarh, Dewas (SC), Ujjain (SC), Mandsaur, Ratlam (ST), Dhar (ST), Indore, Khargone and Khandwa.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with BJP MPs had yesterday marched to the Rashtrapati Bhavan where they submitted a memorandum demanding adequate supply of coal to Madhya Pradesh.

BJP SHOULD CHANGE, GO IT ALONE, UNDER NARENDRA MODI, WITH AN IDENTITY. by ANIYAN on 04 Mar 2009

The BJP should return to the status of cadre party by not aligning with the opportunists. Bihar's JD(U) was allowed to grow at the cost of BJP. By sharing the power there, the BJP is in no way benefited. Likewise, Biju Janata Dal was allowed to grow at the cost of BJP and its situation is no different there. When they are strengthened, the allies of BJP find the party a liability and get themselves rejuvinated. Whey the BJP is after power? Mayawati is an example. After so many years of go it alone, she finally got the chair in UP alone. BJP therefore should not make alliance with non-like minded parties for the purpose of getting few seats. By no stretch of means, BJP cannot get a majority in the forthcoming election in the name of NDA, as it will be way behind the congress led UPA, with CPM led left or third front will be in waiting to support Congress. BJP should change with Narendra Modi leading it with an identity.

Congress Ruined India Since Independence by Indian Patriot on 03 Mar 2009

If we just kick this congress out India would be developed country. One of my relatives is working in goverment sector in Delhi and he says whenever congress comes to power he loses his sleep. The congress politicians always call him up even @ midnight to modify the goverment files in order to loot the goverment money.

AND THE WINNER IS by K Sundar on 03 Mar 2009

Congress will do much better in Madhya Pradesh than it did the last time around and will in all probabiity win in excess of 10 seats out of the total 29 seats. This accretion plus its likely gains in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Punjab, Uttarkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh will help it to minimize its losses given that it is likely to lose seats in AP, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Assam, Gujarat etc. On individual scale, the Congress is likely to end up anywhere between 150-160 seats and the BJP 115-125 seats, whereas as an alliance, the UPA may end up anywhere between 250-260 with SP and TMC on board and the NDA 160-170 with RLD on board

CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT by B S GANESH, BANGALORE on 03 Mar 2009

Sub: CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT. Welfare and prosperity of our country and its common people is being ruined by power-greedy politicians and political parties by not inserting some safeguarding clauses in the Constitution. Every sensible person has to agree that the greatest weakness of our Constitution is that it does not lay down any eligibility criteria or mechanism to ensure that only persons of integrity, patriotism, both financial and intellectual, are appointed to constitutional posts. The most shameful thing is that a hard-core criminal kept in the jail can also contest and win the elections by hook or crook. Hence the single largest factor for degeneration in public life and governance has been the appointment of undeserving persons to constitutional and other high statutory positions. HENCE AMENDMENT IS BECSSARYB S GANESH

Congress getting routed in Lok Sabha polls by Ramanathan Rajan on 03 Mar 2009

Congress need not do anything substantive in the Lok Sabha polls from being routed..for Its opportunistic alliance with corrupt Samajwadi politicians like Mullah Ayam Singh and Amar corrupt Singh will do the job effortlessly. Its appeasement of Muslims and inaction to contain terrorism will enthuse Hindu voters to vote against congress en bloc. The rest part will be taken care of splinter parties like BSP,Third front regional corrupt parties and the left parties having masters beyond borders(read China

Congress by Vaid S C K on 03 Mar 2009

Congress is notorious for such tactics. Even in 1960's congress adopted these tactics of discriminating constituencies electing opposition candidates. If they had cared for national cause, fair treatment had been given based on developmental needs and not on congress winning areas. Now country is witnessing downward slide of progess and congress both.
