Satna (MP), January 3: In a shocking incident, an eighth class student of a Government school in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh was killed on Thursday when his senior schoolmate allegedly shot at him in the school premises in the second such crime in the country in a month.

In a replay of the Gurgaon school shooting last month, police said the assailant whipped out a country-made revolver and gunned down the 15-year-old victim, an eighth-standard student in the school in Chorbani village.

It was not immediately known what prompted the shooting during school hours but there were reports that it occurred after a scuffle between the two students, police said of the incident reminiscent of the gun violence in schools in the US.

The injured student was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The exact cause of the quarrel was not yet known, Satna Superintendent of Police Kamal Singh Rathore said.

Police have registered a case and investigations are underway but no arrests have been made so far.

On December 11, an eighth standard student of an elite school in Gurgaon was killed when two classmates allegedly pumped five bullets into him at point blank range in perhaps the first such shooting in a school in the country. Old grudge was believed to have triggered this incident.

parents beware of bad days for your kids if you are careless now by Belkhas Kujur on 04 Jan 2008

It is just an indication where our India is marchng in the name of progress and moderniation. Parents have to repent one day for not taking care of their wards Just proiding money and fulfil every demand mean something is going to be terrible to those kids in future. Education very well means learning of culture and to learn how to create a peaceful family, society and nation. The natural law is simple - whatever you do, it is paid back in coming generation. bad to bad and good to good. Examine your hstory.

Stop Blaming and searching for excuses. by Subramaniam.P on 04 Jan 2008

I really don't understand how these kids get hands on a weapon. Are those parents so irresponsible. How could be parents so carelesss. And Schools.. they do have some responsiblities.. in teaching them disiplines. not just education, sports, uniform, fees and donations. Kids are sent to school to learn what world is,how the to lead a good life, wats right and wats wrong. Its a place of respect, place of disipline. Govt should also introduce new laws if required to stop this with iron hands.. by taking action on parent, kids and schools unless they blame on just each others.

School boy kills by mantu on 04 Jan 2008

India needs quick action by the govt to cap such incidents with stringent and binding laws such as making parents responsible for thier childrens actions if thier weapons are used. Also they should be kept in remand homes for children till they are adults and then charged with the murders and provided life sentences which should be truely life i.e. not 10-15 yrs but 50 yrs minimum and then will children stop these acts, this aping of american style of violence is very dangerous and can lead to chaos.

corruption in our school system by Raj on 03 Jan 2008

School authority and prinicpal of the school should be punished before the parents of the kid.. it is schools responsibility to take care of the security system in the premise and school should be more concerned with kids who are weak and should be punished bully kids. Teachers know who is bully in the class and should be informed to the parents in time. If parents dont take care of the situation then such students should be expel from the school. But know school donot do such things becuase then who is going to feed their corrupted soul. Our government should be more stric about such issues. Taking haffty donations under table should be abolished like dowry system. I dont think it is very difficult but know any government who ever in the position wants make their part of the money.. it is not manmohan or bihari or patil.. all the politicians are corrupted..
