Passengers were frisked and baggage checked thoroughly and additional paramilitary and police personnel deployed especially in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai airports in the light of reports the government has received that terrorists may target them by hijacking an aircraft around the anniversary of Babri Mosque demolition on December 6.
"This (report about terrorists carrying out a possible aerial attack) is based on a warning which has been received (by the government). The reports, which came close on the heels of the Mumbai terror siege, also spoke of possibility of aircraft being hijacked by terrorists" IAF Chief Fali Homi Major said.
Authorities have deployed additional contingents of CISF and police inside and outside the Delhi airport.
Over 300 armed guards with assault rifles took up position in and around Chennai airport. The first corridor in front of the airport, used for parking of vehicles, was closed to traffic as CISF personnel patrolled the area.
The movement of visitors was restricted and only passengers were allowed by a separate entry and additional metal detectors were installed.
Hundreds of CISF were deployed at Bengaluru International Airport and machine gun bunkers set up at the entrance.
The threat of a bomb blast spurred authorities to further beef up security at Coimbatore airport by deployment of bomb detection and disposal squad and sniffer dogs in and around the place.
Sniffer dogs have been deployed at most airports, while security personnel in plainclothes were also keeping a tight vigil. Marshals were being put on planes flying on sensitive routes, the sources said.

All these hoax calls and airports threat by terrorists may be to divert attention of the Indian air force so that Pakis air force can build up and mass up to strike against India before India can do that. There are all sort of deviation from the real threats. It is all part of Pakis ISI drama to keep indian on toe and frighten them and IAF is ill prepared for the Pakis aggression sooner or later.
Support the Pakistan movement came mainly from muslims in UP and Bihar and not so much from muslims in Punjab/Sindh. Muslims in Balochisan and NWFP opposed Jinnah's plan. As a matter of fact, Balochistan was a seperate state for about a year since Pakistan's creation. It was forcibly annexed in 1948. The tragedy is, though the muslims in UP and Bihar demanded Pakistan, a bulk of them stayed back in India after the partitiion. This was purely due to economic reason. The rich and educated could hope to get job in their new country.. but the poor muslims were rooted to the local economy. The loss of muslim intelligentsia in UP/Boihar creaetd a vacuum which was taken over by mullahs leading to further backwardness in education and gender equality.

Who gives the right to say that India is yours. India belongs to not only bigoted hindus such as you, its a country of great many religions which have contributed to its greatness. Yes Islam is a great religion which has a following in every corner of the earth. The simple and pragmatic islamic philosophy has attracted the intellegentia from all over the world. We are proud to be part of the great Islam. If you cannot see the beauty of this religion, all i could say is that you are blinded in prejudice. Terror as in Mumbai is not a 'Hindu-Muslim' or even a 'Muslim' issue. It is far deeper and sinister. At times of passion like this,what we all need is to stay calm and assess what their real intentions were.
