Purohit, who was escorted to Pune from Nashik by the ATS squad, has been charged under various sections of IPC for committing forgery in procuring a gun from Jammu and Kashmir for one Milind Date in 2003.
Opposing the prosecutions' plea for a seven-day remand for further investigations into the case, Srikant Shivde, appearing for the accused told the judge that the ATS was trying to implicate him in a false case by threatening Date.
The counsel alleged that Purohit, who had a distinguished service record in the army, was being victimised for political reasons and he could even be eliminated by ATS because he was in possession of Intelligence data of a sensitive nature pertaining to the SIMI and ISI operations, which could embarrass some quarters.
Public Prosecutor A V Ausekar, appearing on behalf of ATS, argued that police custody for the accused was required to trace his connections in Jammu and Kashmir from where he managed to procure the gun for complainant Date from the military quota under the fake designation of Major Date and for giving bogus address in the application form for securing the weapon.

I have some questions -Why Lt- col Purohit? Does he know something that powers to be want destroyed or is he the means to controlling the highly integral, secular armed forces? Why is the army not conducting/ participating in this enquiry of its staff? I am impressed with the speed with which thsi investigation has overshadowed all the blasts that have taken hundreds of lives with each blast. Why is the ATS contradicting itself? How come it declared the Lt Col the 'kingpin' if it is yet to prove anything substantial in court? These are times when the enemies of the nation are from within and not across the border.
I find this to be marathi- hindi conflict.Conflict even in trial. Shift this case to any other state to have fair trial.
Completely ridiculous is the statement of the defence Councel of Purohit. Purohit was the mastermid of all the bomb blast that occured in India and was in hand glove with hindu extremist groups who are adamant in waging a discord and distrubing the communal harmony in the country and want to grab power to loot the national resources. Such elements whosoever they are and how powerful they are must be punished.

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) of New York said that Andhra Pradesh police officers had tortured Muslim youth after the blasts in the city in May and August 2007. It demands to prosecute police officers involved in the "torture" saying no such thing happened. The HRW had slammed the state government in a press release and had alleged that 21 Muslim youth were tortured by the police after the blasts. "Acknowledging torture and providing compensation is a good first step," said Ms Meenakshi Ganguly, senior South Asia researcher of the HRW. "The government has to prosecute those responsible and should not allow them to get away with it." However, the HRW alleged that the detained youth had said they were brought before the magistrate only five to 10 days after their arrests. "Families were not notified of the detention, and were not informed of the whereabouts of their relatives," said Ms Ganguly.
i wonder how these peoples know that he (purohit) and others are innocent / guilty without the whole investigation. so please wait ofr some time and we have a court also to decide who is good and who is bad... i think those who are already supporting them are also cud be terrorist one day. ha ha so please wait for the final judgement.....
My friends, all of you seems very nationalist Hindus. India has never been a Hindu country. We were majority in polpulation - that's all. Hindus were ruled by Moghuls for centuries and British christians for few more centuries. After so-called independence, we were always in suppoort of minority (populated) mulsims and christians. Added to that there are anti-Hindu aethists like Karunanidhi and CPMs. So, historically, we were never ruled by Hindus. So, why are you all blaming the system for convicting hinus. I thought Hindus are used to such treatments. I guess, Hindus will always be ruled by non-Hindus for ever -atleast till the end of kaliyuga.
I think that the media is going to talk about fictional topics like "Hindu Terrorism" until the elections are over. They are constantly after Hindus in some form or the other. I can't believe that being one of the largest Hindu nation we are unable to control these anti-Hindu politicians and anti-hindu/pro-communist press. There are many ignorant people in this country who go exactly by the newspapers. that's really scary! Why aren't they reporting about the 60 bomb blast that took place few months ago? Didn't people die in those blasts? Or is the media justifying those attacks because they were done by islamic terrorists? So it is okay not to talk about them???? People who really care about India should stand together and fight against these anti-indians. God Save this wonderful country!
If guilty should be hanged and if innocent should be given all the lost respect, compensation, resume ARMY position with promotion to reimburse him. Let the law complete its course
What else can be expected from UPA Government. They are treating Hindus like dirt. Purohit is suffering being a Hindu. Hindus are a second rate citzens in India, the simple reason, the Hindus are divited. If we have to survive and fight pseodo secularism, all Hindus have to unite.If we don't learn the lesson now, then it will be never. Now the elections are coming, we should vote to power the party which works for one India and common CIVIL CODE. Well they have been elimanting people in encounters. Forgotten the Batla house incident where when the Police said that the person killed was a terrorist and you all believed the police. Now if the police says that certain others are also involved belonging to a different community, why these doubts?

God only knows truth behind these investigations. Most of the indians were fooled by Tamil Nadu police arrest of Kanchi Seers but to date the neither TN Govt nor TN Police could prove the case against seers.Hell with the politics and fake police cases. How about charging Laloo, Maya, Karuna and Mamata!
