Kolkata, March 14 While both Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and Pradesh Congress Committee president Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi urged the people to put up a resistance against the Left Front government in the state on the first anniversary of Nandigram police-firing incident, the two leaders avoided bumping against each other during their visit to the ground zero.

Both the leaders not only rescheduled their visit but also chose different paths so as to avoid any possibility of landing at the same place together.

On Friday morning, Banerjee reached Adhikaripara where the police had opened fire on the villagers last year after crossing Tekhali Bridge at Khejuri.

There, Banerjee addressed a gathering and blamed both the state and Central government for failing to punish the culprits responsible for the March 14 firing last year.

Dasmunsi, on the other hand, reached Bhangabera Bridge and paid floral tribute to the victims of the police firing.

After addressing a meeting there he joined a rally organised by the Congress supporters at Nandigram bazaar.

Banerjee skipped her Sonachura visit as Dasmunshi had already reached there and cut short her visit to return back to Kolkata. So did Dasmunsi.
