New Delhi The rail Budget, scheduled to be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 3, would be a ‘pro-people budget’, Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

"It will be a pro-people budget, a simple budget, people's budget," Banerjee told reporters after the all party meeting on the eve of the Budget session of Parliament.

She said the expectation was high from the Railway Budget and added that she barely got 15 days to work on it as the concerned officials were busy preparing it.

The minister added that the budget was being prepared in accordance with the situation of Railways at present in the country.

Neglected UTTARAKHAND by Harish Chandra on 02 Jul 2009

Uttarakhand has always been neglected by railways. While China has constructed rail link very close to the bordering district of Pithoragarh, the nearest railway station is some 200 kms from pithoragarh. We request the minister Mamtadi to please consider our request for rail link upto Pithoragarh.regardsHarish

We hope upcoming rail budget will focus on Orissa by P. Padhihary on 02 Jul 2009

Orissa is always neglected by railway ministry. All the time railway ministry portfolio is handled by either a person from Bihar or West Bengal. So, they give more importance to their own states. There are so many railway projects are either pending or incomplete in Orissa due to lack of funding or ignorance by the railway ministry. Because of the lack of infrastructure and communication in the tribal dominated areas in the Orissa, Naxalite activities are day by day growing. UPA government should more concentrate on these issues by providing better infrastructure facilities like rail and transport services for better socio economic growth. There is a huge industrial growth arise in this region which must needed railway network very fast for the transportation and communication. So, we expect Ms. Banerjee will consider the matter in her rail budget tomorrow.
