The Trinamool chief accused the Congress of spreading canard against her party because it had opposed FDI in retail, petrol price hike and interference in the federal structure.
"Congress is spreading canard and is carrying out false propaganda against TMC on the issue of assault on the principal of Raigunj University college on January 5 because we opposed FDI in retail, frequent petrol price hikes and total interference into federal structure.
"Lokayukta was forcibly included in the Lokpal Bill. They(Cong) had not paid heed to our words. Voting was not done on it," Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat.
"If Congress feels they can go with CPI-M, they can do it. (The) Door is open for them. If Congress works with CPI-M, they will not get Trinamool Congress. TC can go it alone", she said.
Congress is also was worried because TMC has decided to contest coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, Banerjee said, adding she was speaking as the TC chief.
Alleging that Congress and CPI-M were working together, she said the 'small incident' of assault on college principal Dilip De Sarkar after a clash between Trinamool Chhatra Parishad and Chhatra Parishad of Congress was being 'blown out of proportion intentionally' to malign her party.
Banerjee, however, dubbed the incident as "unfortunate" and said "Sometime young people commit mistakes. Those who did it (assaulted the principal) will be arrested... We are taking whatever action is required to be taken in this case."
Trinamool Congress had yesterday accused Congress of trying to create lawlessness in the state in order to 'help' CPI-M and warned that both government and the party would not tolerate it.
Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi had said yesterday that "nobody is denying that there are differences of opinion. Such difference of opinion are not irreconcilable... To try to act like 'Narad muni' to provoke and to create a provocative atmosphere is not right.

A recent photo in Business Line shows that Didi's craft kept that well educated FM of her's totally mesmerized when she had made a 'flower out of a ribbon' like a 8th standard school girl before getting ready for an another fiery speech. Bengal is now on 'lecture soup','lecture curry' and with more lectures on streets, corridors ,great intell debates on TV, none can stop the verbal progress of the state. Bengal FM must be realising now the basic economics of the price to be in power. Thanks to fight ready Didi. Bishnudigambar
Mamatha is a maniac. She does not care to maintain a decent behavior with her coalition partners, but always dictate terms. This type of behavior was with DMK also in the past.See their fate now.Mamatha also heading for such position and it is not too far.The country is not giving a clear majority to any single party.Smaller regional parties should not dictate terms.Chandra Babu Naidu did it covertly and saw his doom.Is Mamatha is really looking for the interest of the people of this country? Certainly not but Didi is showing Dadagiri. It is now her time .But for how long? Let us watch.
Mamata Bannerjee is someone who appears to have little to no understanding of economics. Rabble rousing which she excels at, is not what it takes to be an effective administrator. No Central government voluntarily hikes fuel prices. It would be great if the UP elections lead to a new alignment in Delhi which would rid the Centre of dealing with the menace of Mamata and her populist nonsense. Given her irresponsible behavior the much hoped for and hyped paribartan in West Bengal was obviously an illusion.
It is Noora-Kushti.Both are sharing the spoils,TMC at centre and Congress in West Bengal.
Mamata is reported to have expresses her feeling to go alone if congress ties up with CPM and other irritants are not taken care of. Rahul Gandhi will say : If Mamata Didi goes so what? mere pas MA hai
Ofcourse, there is point of disagreement between UPA and TMC on FDI in retail, Lokayuktha. Simultaneously the leader of TMC and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee having no consensus with the UPA on many issues mentioned above, which may lead to frame a weak Lokpal Bill, but UPA congress observes which is a must to be continued in power even with CPI (M).But, it is unfortunate that the present Govt., is not having the required majority in Centre to rule India, what will do, if TMC quit out of the UPA ally! I don´t think that the Indian Govt., could join with CPI(M) to accomplish the mission till the termination in 2014.
It would have been in the interest of both West Bengal and politics in the country if Mamata Banerjee had acted statesman like as Naveen Patnaik and Nitish Kumar have done. The two are focused on the development of their respective states and don't meddle in extraneous issues which won't help in the development of their states. But Mamata as her ilk is, would poke her nose all around which isn't in the interest of West Bengal which had the misfortune of being governed under a very different and now archaic ideology. One can simply say that West Bengal has fallen from frying pan to fire as it is evident that whether she has any ideology or not but she is trying to be MORE LEFT THAN THE LEFT. The time only will tell the fate of Mamata in 2016 but I doubt if that she will retain the power which will start getting evident in 2014 when the Nation will go for the polls for the parliament. Left, more Left and Less left will be contenders to the power and I hope the LESS LEFT will win.
