Kolkata, May 30 An unidentified man was found murdered in a private guesthouse — Hotel Pushpa — at MG Road near Sealdah station today.

The body was found in a room booked by one Ripon Das and after questioning the staff and manager Samar Ghosh, police are suspecting that Ripon Das is the killer.

Investigations reveal that the man might be a Bangladesh national. According to the police, a Bangladeshi currency note was found in the victim's pocket.

"The killer must have hit the victim's head with a heavy paperweight and then slit his throat with a sharp knife. We have sent the body for postmortem," said a police officer of Muchipara police station.

Das had booked the room on the second floor of the hotel on May 26, an officer said. On the evening of May 28, he told the hotel staff that a friend would visit him on Thursday.

The last time the staff spotted him was on Thursday morning with an unknown man. On Thursday evening, finding the room locked, the hotel staff opened the room and found the body of Das's "friend" lying in a pool of blood.
