Pune, April 20 When he saw two accident victims writhing in pain, 38-year-old Vipin Dhand rushed forth to help them. But little did Dhand know that he would be at the receiving end of a brutal slap by a passing motorcylist who believed that Dhand was responsible for the mishap. The slap was so severe that Dhand's ear membrane has cracked. The result: Dhand has lost hearing in the left ear.

Dhand is taking treatment at a private hospital. Medical reports said that a hole was developed in his ear and it will take quite sometime for recovery.

Narrating the incident, Dhand said he was at his office Vaishnavdevi enterprises at Aundh on Friday evening. Around 6.45 pm, he saw a head-on collision between a Honda Activa vehicle and a Hero Honda CBZ motorcycle on the road outside.

“The lady driving the Activa and a youth on the CBZ was injured and their vehicles were lying in the middle of the road. I went for helping them. I was clearing the vehicles lying on road when a man on a Royal Enfield motorbike (MH 14 BH 6422) halted at the spot,” he said.

“Without having knowledge of the accident, the man abused me, blamed me for the mishap and slapped me. He was in no mood to listen anything. Some more people gathered at the spot. So I called the police control room on 100 number for help,” he added.

“Instead of providing some immediate help, the control room police asked me to approach the nearest police station, which was not possible because I was surrounded by people who were holding me responsible for the mishap,” he said.

Dhand has filed a complaint with the Aundh police chowky against the motorcyclist. ?
