The MDP was organised by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in collaboration with Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and Director General Foreign Trade (DGFT) for supplementing the needs of professional management in international business.
Around 250 participants from industry and various educational institutions attended the programme. There was a lecture on developing human resource practices in international business, with special focus on global mind-set and cross-culture issues in international business by Dr Pooja Lakhanpal, Professor, IIFT, New Delhi.
She stressed on the importance of understanding the cultural differences in countries where international business is to be done. Prof G.P. Sharma, IIFT New Delhi, highlighted the various errors that are committed in international business and Prof Harkirat Singh, IIFT, New Delhi covered the topic of understanding and implication of letter of credit rules under UCP 600.
He stressed that various new laws had emerged in the recent past regarding letter of credits and the exporters should be well aware of the charges.
Chief Guest Dr M.S. Kang, V-C, Punjab Agriculture University, stressed on the importance of such management development programmes for the smooth movement of international trade. There was also an address by K.T. Chacko, Director, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
