London A man, who took out an insurance policy on his wife shortly before murdering her at their home in Buckinghamshire, has been sentenced for life.

A jury at Reading Crown Court has found Mohammed Tariq Aziz guilty of battering to death 40-year-old Zarina Bibi.

Bibi was found with multiple head injuries and died on the spot at their family home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on March 16 last year, BBC reported.

44-year-old Aziz was convicted by majority verdict after a trial. He was ordered to serve a minimum of 22 years in jail.

The couple had five children.

Speaking after the case, Thames Valley Police said Aziz had taken out an insurance policy on his wife's life shortly before her death and had "growing financial difficulties".

"He attempted to disguise the killing as an accident and later suggested that it had been carried out by someone else," said Baljit Ubhey, chief crown prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service.
