New Delhi Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was discharged early this morning from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he underwent coronary angiography yesterday, "is back at work".

"He has been discharged. He is hale and hearty and has gone back home," Dr K S Reddy, his personal physician, who is heading a multi-disciplinary medical team, said.

"He is normal. He is back at work and is functioning from the Race Course Road residence which has an office," PM's Media Adviser Deepak Sandhu said.

The 76-year-old Prime Minister had undergone coronary angiography along with a series of other tests at the hospital.

Singh, who had undergone a coronary artery by-pass surgery in the UK several years back, had complained of some chest pain after which a decision to carry out the tests was taken, according to hospital sources.

"Periodic evaluation of his medical status is done as a matter of routine and diagnostic tests are performed," Reddy, who refused to share the results of the tests, including ECG and blood, citing medical confidentiality, had said.

MANMOHAN SINGH: HEALTH by Col KMS Sahasi on 23 Jan 2009

Dr Manmohan singh has shown light at the end of political tunnel where every thing looked gloomy. He is most honest politician. He is teetotaler unlike Atal jee, who drinks to the glory. He is self made non egoist. Beats ADVANI who has mountain of ego. He is better than Powar who has sugar cartel inMAHARASHTRA. NO politician is more educated and qualified as PM who is noblest soul, determination is rock strong and par excellent economist, see change in inflation rate coming down. May God grant mANMOHAN singh long life to lead india to become a super power within next 5 years.

Pl take rest by Sanjaya on 22 Jan 2009

The reason for Dr Singh's bad health is loss of sleep. He cannot sleep when a jehadi terrorist is caught. He has lost his sleep since when Dr Hanif was detained in Australia. Since a jehadi terrorist is caught almost everyday, he is losing sleep everyday and is having bad health.

Manmohan Singh's health by Kalpathy Venkataraman on 22 Jan 2009

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a real gift to India. But for him, the UPA won't exist for a single day. He commands respect even from his worst enemies because of his Satvic nature. The unfortunate part is that he had to bear not only the stress from the recent Mumbai carnage but also the pressure from the coalition partners like Lalu, Karunanidhi, Ramdoss, Mulayam etc. In the heart of heart he must be feeling uneasy for the adjustments he has to make with these criminals. Karunanidhi is supporting the UPA only for his own personal gains and not for the welfare of India or Tamilnadu and so is Ramdoss. Ramdoss doesn't want his son to loose the Health Minister's post. In addition to these people he had to deal with back stabbers like Pranab, Chidambaram and Arjun. Only because of Manmohan Singh, India has a name in the international fora. I sincerely pray to Lord Guruvayurappan to give him sound health and long life so that the Indians have his distinguished services for a long time.

PM not feeling well by Praful Daptardar on 22 Jan 2009

God bless our PM. He is one of the only honest and most intelligent leaders in the country. We are fortunate to have him as head of state. With power and money greedy politicians around him , his job is very difficult one. Has in depth knowledge of most critical issues India faces. We do not prosper at a greater speed due to highly corrupt system. One strong leader with political backing can make a difference. When this will happen is beyond a common man's reach.
