Itanagar, January9: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should strongly defend every inch of Arunachal Pradesh during his forthcoming three-day visit to China next week, a BJP MP from the border state on Wednesday demanded.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh (West) Kiren Rijiju said the muted and guarded response of the Central government over claims made by the Chinese over Arunachal Pradesh “is hardly encouraging”.

“We expect the Government of India will come out strongly to defend every inch of Arunachal Pradesh,” Rijiju said.

He reminded Singh of the agreement reached during former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee’s visit to China that status quo in populated areas on both sides of the McMohan line or Line of Actual Control would be maintained in letter and spirit.

That (the agreement) could be the only viable solution of the border dispute in the Arunachal sector in the present circumstances, he said.

Rijiju said reopening of border trade with China through traditional routes in the state would also bring the two people closer.

Reopening Kinjomane, Bumla, Taksing, Mechuka, Monigong, Geling and Kibito, closed since the 1962 war, could make the defacto boundary and ultimately result in being recognised as permanent border, the MP said.

Chinese problem by Arundhati on 09 Jan 2008

Unfortunately my message was covered fully. I have further to add following. It was Indira who trusted a wrong and devious man and strong as she was she let 90000 PsOW go without getting any assurances from Bhutto. Even our public is not entirelyy blameless. Don't we remember the handling of IAC hijack and the manner in which the shameless citizens of Delhi, abated by MEDIA, were shown carrying out SIYAPA in front of PM's house. It was this thing that forced the PM to release the terrorists from jail unfortunately it was he who was blamed. I believe that if our public had shown some resolve like the Israelis of shown in such ocassion PM would have acted firmly. Why go very far let us consider the recent development in Australia. Isn't it true the BCCI would have capitulated and only the reslove shown by Anil Kumble and his boys made them to take action. It is true that we always get what we deserve. So be it.

Chienese claim over Arunchal by Arundhati on 09 Jan 2008

I wholly agree with Arun. But what can be done? The BJP the other alternative is equally incompetent and weak. Don't our politicians know that the Government action or inaction on such delicate matters has always let our armed forces down. The BJP, the so called Nationalist party is no exception. Consider following. In 1948 when our gallant soldiers were evicting Pakistanis from occupied Kashmir it is Nehru who developed weak knee and stopped them thus creating a festering wound (Nasur). The same was repeated by Lal Bahadur in 1965 when he handed over large part of our own territory in J

ARUNACHAL,HOW LONG PRESENT CONGRESS GOVT REMAINS FIRM! by ramesh kumar on 09 Jan 2008

LET US NOT FORGET NEHRU.CONGRESS CAN HARDLY BE EXPECTED ANY FIRM POSTURES.REMEBER HOW CPI AND CPM CAME INTO EXISTENCE.DURING CHINESE AGRESSION COMMUNISTS SAID LIBERATION ARMY IS COMING.NEVER FORGET HISTORY!WE MUST HAVE NATIONALIST GOVT.

Arunachal is ours by Arun on 09 Jan 2008

We are expecting too much from Sardarji who has to take permission from Madam for all his actions. This is something a Congress Government supported by Communists will never do. Didn't they accept the annexation of Tibet, which China could not do while British were in India, subsequently handed over a large chunk in Ladakh to China and also permitted Pakistan to further hand over our territory to China. I do not expect Manmohan or any other Congress leader, and for that matter even BJP leadership of Vajpayee variety to stand firm. Let us not forget that even today it is the Communists , who had sided with China during 1962 Indo Chinese war, that are controlling the affairs of state. What use having a Lion (Singh) whose tail is firmly held by some one else. Whenever this Lion has decided to roar this element has always twisted its tail to keep it quiet. Your Cartoon in yesterday's paper was quite reveling. I know that he can do a lot and therefore really feel feel pity for him. Arun

Defending Arunachal territory--- by romesh.sharma on 09 Jan 2008

The PM is busy in defending and only defending things like minorities,reservations,anti-nation elements.insurgents and terrorists of highest degree like Afzal Guru.Mr.Rijiju can be sure that the PM will avoid even to discuss anything like this which is of Nation's interest. He is there to say,we plan,we want,we wish,we hope,we should,we must and so on but zero action.I had been watching him on TV with Leaders of other countries but staying silent and aloof with folded hands. He likes to avoid responsibilities and keep head free before gets headache.I am not sure if he has some kind of inferiority complex, after all he is highly qualified person but certainly he has feelings of guilt because he is an appointed PM who never won municipal elections. To deal with countries like China and Pakistan etc the PM has to be too matured in diplomacy and fire-brand.Couple of days before China said "we are to learn a lot from India"which is first step of tactfully telling PM not to make any fuss and do the things as we want. There was some hope for early border settlement with China during Vajpayee's Govt.Congress couldn'd/didn't move an inch forward during 50 years of rule and what man can expect now from this Govt which is surviving with communist's help. One thing you can be sure of is the PM won't defend or surrender but leave the matter/conflict hanging as it was/is.God save India from this Congress and Communists.
