"A section of Naxalites in West Bengal has shunned violence and joined main stream politics by reposing their faith in democracy. This is a good sign for strengthening the democracy in the country," the Railway Minister said.
Admitting that many former Naxalites are with the Trinamool Congress, She said they have worked with us whole heartedly during the last Lok Sabha elections. People like Purnendu Bose, Dola Sen, Pradeep Banerjee and many more former Naxalites are very much with us and we welcome their return to democratic politics, she said.
Asked since when these Naxalites are with Trinamool Congress, she said, "it all started during the Singur agitation. They came forward and supported us."
Seeking to differentiate between Naxalites and Maoists, Banerjee said, "Naxalites are not Maoists. So do not confuse them with Maoists."
On CPI(M) allegation that she is getting support from Maoists, she said, "it is the otherway around. Everybody knows who supported the Maoist movement in Nepal."
On the by-election results, she said, "it is people's mandate. People voted them (CPI-M) out and I have no role." Ruling out any possibility of merging with Congress, she said we will have an well-knit alliance with the party (in the 2011 West Bengal Assembly polls)."

CongI and Christain insttutions are the main supporters of Maoist. They along with maaoists are using Mamata to finish Communists. Once job done they will dispatch mamata
Dear Didi, Earlier in Bengal and central politics you were proof that you are in wrong side, its looks you are doing mistakes again, may be you are seeing your supporter on road, that is minor percentage in compare to educated and neutral people who are watching you and analysing your words which are again a proof of your link with maioist in Singur and Nandigram agitation, do not underestimate educated and neutral people.
There is nothing sinful in bringing the earstwhile Naxalites and other extreemist into the national mainstream and follow democratic process. It is the imperialist and obscurantic Marxistian ideology which is outdated trying to paint the Naxalites as red and wants them to continue thier violent method to bring social changes. It is the double standard of the present Marxiasts which is more dangerous than the Naxalites and need to be thrown out of the Indian political scene.Mamatha is capable of completing that mission and hope she will be able to finish the barbaric communist rule in W Bengal.
SHAME.. SHAME.. SHE IS A JOKE.. PLEASE FIND SOMEONE TO GET SOME LAW AND ORDER. A COUNTRY DIVIDIED BY GREED AND CONTROLLED BY GOONS..
after killing, raping, destroying public property join Trinamool Congress and get rid of your sins. Didi purifies you like Ganges. If Raj Tahckarey decides to join Congress or Trinamool will he also become a saint? Congress too decided to wash sins of her partners such as Muslim league, Bhinadaranwale but alas they are deep sunk in sins themselves today - Didi are you listening?
Dear Arun Kumar, This is in rely to your questionas to whether Raj Thakeray will become saint if he joins Congress? It seems ur general knowledge is very poor. Many ex- Shiv Sainiks with dubuious background like Narayan Rane have joined congress and have become ministers. In fact both the Siv Sena and the Maharashtra Navanirman Sena are creations of Congress. Politicians have their own way of proping up trouble makers, giving them bad names and then rehabilitating them. Remember Bhondranwale? Taral
Mamata can claim to be Ganges but will soon become Saraswati....just wait and see!
It clear home department's politics become victrious at present.Time will only prove how healthy it is forthe indian democratic system.
If Mamata Banerjee can esnure the return to democratic politics in a non-violent, democratic spirit of those who were waylaid by the Naxal movement earlier then that would, on the face of it, be a good tiding. But she will need to ensure that her party is not waylaid by the same elements that fomented Naxal violence on the one hand and sought to project themselves as saviours from the Naxals and the "bourgeosie elite and their police" on the other, sacrificing so many lives and livelihoods in their heartless quest for power. The CPM is smart and wily in the games that they play and Mamata Banerjee would be well advised to cement her alliance with the Indian National Congress, and especially its sagacious top leadership, in order to be able to navigate herself, her party, her alliance and the people of Bengal past the menace of the Marxists and the Maoists through the waste, decay, stagnation, hatred and loss of faith that are writ large all over Bengal.
