Nasik, February 13: Scores of North Indians working in Satpur and Ambad industrial belt have started leaving for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the wake of attacks on the community by alleged MNS activists, industry sources said on Wednesday.

Many unskilled labourers from other states, working in small as well as big industrial units and construction sites are leaving the area due to fear of attacks by MNS activists, they said.

Heavy patrolling continued on Satpur-Ambad link road, where a sizeable number of North Indians have settled in view of incidents of stone-pelting and attacks on their houses in the last few days.

Trains like Kolkata Mail, Gorakhpur, Mahanagari, Pushpak, Pawan and Kamayani Express were packed with North Indian passengers at Nasik Road and Devlali stations.

The railway police has beefed up security at these stations, where large number of North Indians have been queuing up for trains proceeding towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Upset over the incidents in Nasik, one of the migrants, Vijay Yadav, leaving for UP, said he was happy living in the city as the people in Nasik are very good, "lekin ab halat bigad gayi" (but now things have turned worse), he said.

Umeshkumar Chaturvedi, another migrant leaving by Bhagalpur-Express said, "I am not happy to leave Nasik, but now circumstances have forced us to move to my home town."

Station manager D S Rathor said that on an average, 1500-2000 North Indians have moved out of city as per the ticket-office booking records, since last week.

He said that figures might swell as passengers traveling without tickets have not been taken into account.

Nasik is burning by Varinder Sarin on 14 Feb 2008

When Rome was burning Niro was laughing. Exactly same is the case in Maharashtra. When North Indian innocent people and Taxi drivers were being beaten, Congress MPs like Govinda and Priya Dutt who are originally from North were no where to be seen and even Govinda was busy in dancing. What do these MPs has to say?

Regionalism ? by Sarin on 14 Feb 2008

I have been trying hard to look at this event in positive direction, but NO SUCCESS so far ! This event looks negative, smells negative and even leaves a bad taste in mouth. Why is "Regionalism" always forced down the throat of Indian people. What is wrong with speaking Hindi and English. Marathi sounds very similar to Hindi. Even the scripts are same. So it seems for an Indian to go somewhere in his country he has to learn some regional language. Thats means if my job sends me to Gujarat for two years I have to learn Gujarati, and if I move to Bengal for few years assignment, I have to learn Bengali. So in my 40 years of carrer i might end up learning 20 odd regional languages. Thats giving me headache already. And then what did I achieve ? Can I learn Microbiology in Marathi, or Bengali or even Hindi language ? NO I CAN'T. So I still have to fall back to English. Indians should realise that Regional languages are for literature and entertainment. So why make a big hue and cry about this Regionalism ???

Bharat for Bharatiya by Bharat on 13 Feb 2008

Bharatvarsh, our beloved matribhumi, is for all Bharatiya. However, we must remember we too have duty and responsibility to the mother. When one son/daughter goes to another son/daughters house, they must respect their way of life and culture. It is common fact that, people of north don't respect others way of life and culture. They don't want to learn any south or east Bharatiya language, but they would like others speak Hindi or urdu. When someone speak not good Hindi, then they will lough and mock. Why other Bharatiya have no problem in Mumbai? Why only Biharis and Upites? There is something wrong with them. We can see the dadagiri of Biharis and UPites in Delhi. As Bharat is for Bharatiya, we must tolerate others culture and way of life, so they we also get the respect back.

bharat for bharatiya by mumbaikar on 14 Feb 2008

Hindi is national language and national language mean a common language through which people will communicate as like english is international language when you go in German or France you don't keep learning diff language instead speak in English to get along with .....so if north Indian expect you to know Hindi is logical and as far problem is concerned same sena in 60's were behave abusive with south Indian and then gujratis and now north indians this is all cheap politics..... bottom line we are Indians every one should be respected irrespective of region or religion.
