Kolkata, May 17 The preliminary investigations into the death of Gouri Naskar, the daughter-in-law of RSP leader and state Irrigation Minister Subhas Naskar, have revealed that the powder used to make bombs was found at her home where the blast occurred. Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is awaiting the report of the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CSFL) which is still collecting samples from the spot.

“We are awaiting the report of CFSL. We too have sent a team to the site. There are a number of questions which still remain unanswered. We can send a report to the state government only after getting all the details,” said Bhupinder Singh, the Additional Director General CID.

According to the CID sources, the room in which the deceased was found was locked from outside. “Apart from other materials like ropes, we have found traces of the powder used to make explosives. It is true that bombs were being made in the house. But it is not clear whether the explosion was accidental or not?” said one of the investigating officers. Also, not a single splinter of the body of the victim was found which is very unlikely in a bomb attack. According to the report of the doctors at SSKM, the upper portion of the body was comparatively more charred, a fact which sleuths opine is impossible in case a bomb was thrown at her.

Gouri was critically injured after CPM cadres allegedly threw bombs at her house at Basanti, South 24 Parganas, on May 15, a day after the panchayat polls in the area. She succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

The CPM, however, denied the charge, and said Naskar had stacked bombs in the house.
