Los Angeles Hollywood actor Matt Damon followed in the footsteps of friend and fellow activist George Clooney when he visited the Zimbabwean refugees in the South African town of Musina.

The ‘Bourne Ultimatum’ star who was in the country to shoot for ‘The Human Factor’, Clint Eastwood's upcoming film about Nelson Mandela, took time off from filming to visit the refugee camps, reported ‘E !Online’.

Damon is a part of the Hollywood advocacy group ‘Not on Our Watch’ which he co-founded with his ‘Ocean's Twelve’ co-stars, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle.

The visit follows after Clooney, who is also a United Nations Messenger of Peace, visited the African country of Sudan which has become a sanctuary for Africans fleeing the genocide in war-torn Darfur.

Both Damon and Clooney are a part of a growing trend of political activism in Hollywood with followers like star couple Angelina Jolie- Brad Pitt, Leonardo Di Caprio and Sean Penn attaching themselves to various causes ranging from gay rights to environment protection.
