Kodnani also surrendered before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Apex Court, which is probing the Godhra riots cases afresh, Government spokesperson Jaynaran Vays said.
Meanwhile, SIT officials said she will be arrested irrespective of whether she surrenders or not. "As per the Court order, we have to arrest her before 6 pm today," said a senior SIT official.
The High court on Friday cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to Kodanani and VHP leader Jaidip Patel, accused in the 2002 riots cases, holding that "religious fanatics are not less than terrorists".
It also rejected the appeal of both the accused seeking time for further appeal.
Law will take its course: BJP
The BJP reacted to HC’s decision and said it respected the court’s verdict and the law should take its course in the matter.
"BJP fully respects the judiciary. After the Gujarat High Court verdict it became clear that the court has found her guilty and she was asked to resign. She is no longer a minister," BJP spokesperson Balbir Punj told reporters.
He said the matter was in court and the legal process should be followed. "Law will take its own course. It is entirely between Mayaben and the judiciary now," Punj said.

wow....Indian Express publishes what court said Religion Fanatics are no less than Terrorist...wow...while Terrorist in J
Maya Kodnani's resignation from ministery and surender before SIT has set a good example and shows respect for the court's decision. People should not forget that Shibu Soren while being Central Cabinet Minister in UPA government, went missing on the issuing of the Non bailable warrants by court and PM was not aware where he is. Actions speak louder than words and people has to see the difference.
If Mody has any sense of shame, ethic or morality he should resign too.On a second thought, if he had any of them he would have already have done it years ago. India needs a law that hold people like Maya and Mody directly responsible for the loss of life and property and punish them accordingly. Then no leader of any sect or religion or political party would dare to arrange demonstrations that result in communal riots.
Unless and until our justic system will remain failed in punishing real culprits of Sabarmati carnage and 66 blast in entire nation, the incidents like Patiya-Naroda-Lunawada are invitable.VANDE MATARAM
I 100% agree with u, other every village/town/city will witness Naroda like incidents, the grave mistakes of Bapu we are suffering.....
Shame on the Modi Government which has been protecting someone who has committed a heinous crime against humanity. Despite her complicity in the Gujarat riots, she continued as Minister in the Gujarat cabinet even after a arrest warrant was served on her. Does Modi who talks about principles, morality and ethics in public life have the integrity to speak about it. Shameless modi.
Given the post-independence history of our country it is too tall to believe these criminal politicians, already there at the helm of affairs, would allow judiciary an easy run. They would use every trick in their arsenal to obstruct the course of justice. However, the court has made a bold and excellent begining. The criminals and their cohorts of Gujrat Pogroms are publicly exposed by the court. Majority of the country should now decide what kind of netas they are going to send to Parliament. Modi, the shame of Gujrat, must be brought to justice. Just punishment should follow and the exact retribution must come if the India's secular image and honor is to be redeemed. This election is a good opportunity to bury the hatchet and begin a new dream for a Bharat free of prejudice, hate and intimidation. Muslims must also understand that without the goodwill of Hindus they can't prosper. Balkanization had produced horrible miseries and painful cracks. Let us not repeat it !

While appreciating the stand of the courts, one wonders how mushrooming of Muslim political organisations are allowed in the country and the attitude of majority muslims "Hunt with the hound and run with the hare".Muslim league was the first political party founded in the country which divided the nation,RSS etc.,came up later only as a sequel to it.
Why surrender not arrest, if she found tainted or hold guilty by the any competent court of law?, not at all, her anticipatory bail rejected by the High court
I am surprised at the FIRE RAGING PHOTO???? Is your photographer blind WHAT ABOUT PUBLISHING THE TRAIN BURNING PHOTOS and Hindus burning inside and screaming for help??? what about the photos of the Train burning and bearded males and burkha clad females watching the scene??Moral guts and courage required to show that.......nivaas
Is Maya Kodnani some kind of a sister in law to Advani?
By committing this kind of henious crime against fellow human beings has tarnished our Hindu image all around the world. These VHP leaders and followers who claims to represent our Hindu Religion have created friction all around the world. Some of these persons are known as Bhagwa goonde, who openly committed henious crimes which were shown in USA and elsewhere around the globe. There is no doubt, that organisations like the VHP has aped Al-Qaida, because like them they were in the process of injecting hatredism and taliism into our Hindu Religion.VHP is now largely rejected by every decent Hindu around the world, because no decent Hindu would ever follow these Osama-bin-laden likes. Good riddence to very bad and smelly rubbish.
What you are saying is absolutely true. There is no difference between the fanatics of any religion. First it is fundamentalism (my religion is better than yours), then there is intolerance (your religion is crap) and then you make physical threats towards other communities (ex. a young BJP leader if in the news today). First they just say that and then they act out. The path of religious fundamentalism is the same.... Be it the church in mediaval times, islam as we see it with the taliban etc and now we are seeing with the right-wing Hindu organizations. All decent people in the country must oppose it because they will eventually go down the same path as the Taliban. Don't mistake religious fundamentalism for cultural nationalism... just variations in color. We are all Indians and politicians are hell bent on dividing us. The Congress may be appeasing minorities, the BJP the majority. It is also vote bank politics. BJP is just chasing the bigger vote bank. Can't people see that? It is all about the political power and religion is a tool to divide and rule... Indians only please... human beings only please.. rest hardly matters....
Very true, religion has has been used trough a longer period of time to settle political scores. This is what Osama-bin-ladeb did, and this is what the Bharatiya Jinnah Party is doing in India. It is also very true, that our Hindu decent culture has been blotted by the VHP like fundamentalist organisations. We will show our ire at the ballot boxes.
I am all in favour of the Rule of Law, and an independent judiciary, but somehow, under Congress rule, this has come to mean an instrument of garnering minority votes.
lets wish that the guilty are punished.
