Chandigarh, January 6 Mayor Pardeep Chhabra today inaugurated two water stand posts at Rajeev Colony and Rajeev Shahpur Colony, Sector 38 West. Area Councillor Kamlesh was also present on the occasion. The Mayor also visited Hallomajra to meet the family members of Nirmal Singh, who had died recently under suspicious circumstances.

During his meeting with the family of Nirmal Singh, Chhabra expressed his condolences and assured them all help.

Later, the Mayor inaugurated the water stand posts designed by the Municipal Corporation which consist of an underground water tank fed from canal water, with four hand pumps installed on it. The pumping of water through hand pumps will curb the wastage of water. Chhabra praised the area councillor and officials of the Municipal Corporation for the innovation. He also announced that more water stand posts would be installed in other colonies.

Senior Deputy Mayor Anju Beniwala, Councillor Manjit Singh Chauhan, former mayor Anu Chatrath, SE Public Health S R Aggarwal, Executive Engineer R P Gupta and R S Bedi were also present on the occasion.

The Mayor also inaugurated a blood donation camp at Shirdi Sai Samaj in Sector 29 Chandigarh. He also attended an akhand path bhog organised by Residents Welfare Association, Sector 43 A, Chandigarh .

He also attended the meeting of FOSWAC at the Community Center, Sector 20 which was also attended its Chairman P C Sanghi and representatives of over 45 associations of Chandigarh. The Mayor requested the FOSWAC chairman to forward area-wise separate representation by the concerned area RWAs for their developmental works.

Prominent Traders of Chandigarh and members of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal hosted a lunch at Sindhi Farms to welcome the new Mayor. Meanwhile, the Senior Citizen Association of Sector 38 headed by M S Saathi welcomed Pardeep Chhabra on becoming the new Mayor of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
