New Delhi, March 10: The clash between BJP and CPI(M) members here rocked Parliament on Monday with the saffron party and Left-Congress combine blaming each other for initiating violence leading to pandemonium and adjournments in both Houses.

Verbal duel between the two sides were witnessed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during special discussions on the issue for which Left and BJP had given notices.

Left parties and Congress targetted the BJP accusing it of attacking CPI(M) headquarters on Sunday while the saffron party alleged that the Communist activists started violence when its workers went there to stage a "peaceful" protest against killing of its cadres in Kerala.

In Lok Sabha, CPI(M) was joined by Congress in its attack on the BJP and the ensuing clash between the two sides led to pandemonium in the House.

After about 25 minutes of verbal duel, BJP members rushed into the well of the House, provoking Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to reprimand them for the action.

"It is a matter of great sadness and sorrow... One of the major parties, after speaking itself, is not allowing others to speak. I condemn it," Chatterjee said and adjourned the House for 50 minutes.

Earlier, initiating the discussion for which notices had been given by both Left parties and BJP, CPI(M)'s Mohd Saleem said activists, who were clearly from BJP, attacked the CPI(M) headquarter and tried to enter inside.

Saleem said those indulging in the act were so "ashamed" themselves that they did not display any flag.

Four BJP Corporators of Delhi were involved and a party flag was found in a car in which stones were brought for pelting at the CPI(M) headquarter, Saleem alleged amid protests by opposition.

He claimed that RSS as also Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi (of BJP) had taken responsibility for the violence, evoking protests from BJP members.

"RSS was itself so ashamed that it used the name of some Hindu Manch. Why are they using Hindu name to indulge in violence? I condemn it," the CPI(M) member said.

He, however, said he did not believe that the attack by BJP would have been planned by the saffron party's central leadership.

BJP's Deputy Leader in the House V K Malhotra said the protest staged at the CPI(M) headquarter against what happened in Kerala was intended to be "peaceful" but the Communist cadres from inside pelted stones on the demonstrators, injuring 15 of them.

"It was pre-planned by CPI(M)," he alleged and said BJP had filed FIR citing how the CPI(M) cadres were "incited" by their leaders.

Malhotra alleged that Delhi Police took one-sided action against BJP activists under directions from the Union Home Ministry which is under "pressure" from the Left parties.

I and II by Abhik on 30 Mar 2008

There should be two party rule in India and the two parties should be named as Congress and Republicans or I and II. CPM and congress should merge and fight the elections together. They will anyways find it impossible to beat Republicans this time. There reforms were too slow for the liking of the Indian citizens

The home minister is from Kannur and has given a green light to CPM to kill BJP/RSS activists and they will be protected. by kumar on 10 Mar 2008

Congress/CPM should be booted out of Bharath. The home minister is from Kannur and has given a green light to CPM to kill BJP/RSS activists and they will be protected. Congress/CPM protect Muslims even if they murder Hindus and escape into a Mosque as they did in Marad. Congress gave them protection and ensured that Police did not enter the Mosque to arrest the butchers. Not only this M.P. Ahmed was allowed to perform prayers in such a volatile situation and praise the murdrers - So now it is any body's guess who can protect Muslims and Hindus!!! May I ask Congress/CPM as to what it has been doing in Kashmir, North East for the past 58 years. Have they cast in stone that they will only protect minorities and to hell with Hindus. And let massacre in Kashmir continue, after all we are a secular country and we want muslims votes.Just ask any Hindus their plight in the hands of the neutered congresswallahs.

the communist way by raj kumar jha on 10 Mar 2008

the party that believes that power grows out of the barrels of a gun , never shies away from using violence as an effective tool to achieve its goal . it has been doing so in west bengal , it is doing so in kerala , but when its actions are brought to the notice of the public , it pretends innocence and thanks to the nature of indian polity , it gets the support of so-called secular forces . mr. somnath chatterjee must keep in mind the adage that the caeser'wife should not only be above board but she should appear to be above-board .
