Ludhiana, January 2 Two local hosiery unit workers have claimed that they were robbed at gunpoint by some people dressed up like policemen. The duo has reported the matter to Division Number 4 Police.

Achhe Lal and Santosh Kumar claimed that on Wednesday afternoon, they had gone to the Brahmpuri State Bank of India branch to get bank drafts made. They said they were carrying Rs 44,000 for the purpose. They said when they entered the bank, a man in khaki clothes, called Achhe Lal.

Achhe Lal said he thought him to be a policeman so he went out of the bank with him.

Once outside, Achhe Lal said the man pushed him into an autorickshaw which had two more people dressed in khaki.

The man again went inside the bank and called Santosh Kumar.

The people in khaki clothes forcibly took the duo in an autorickshaw at gunpoint and drove them to a far-off place. They beat up Achhe Lal and Santosh Kumar and snatched their money, said Achhe Lal.

Achhe Lal said he was carrying Rs 24,000 and Santosh Kumar was carrying Rs 20,000.

The duo was dropped at Kakowal road.
