"Anyone who says I resigned because of money issues is misguided. I challenge all the officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board to start working on honorary basis and I will do the same," Miandad said, refuting reports that he stepped down from the post because of a pay dispute.
Miandad reiterated that he had not been given the job responsibilities fitting his status and experience as a former captain and coach.
But media reports have claimed that Miandad wanted a salary of around Rs 800,000 to Rs one million whereas PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt offered him Rs 500,000, the same salary paid to chief operating officer, Saleem Altaf the senior-most employee in the board after the Chairman.
But Miandad rubbished these reports.
"The Director Human Resources Wasim Bari himself a former Test captain had recommended to the board that I be paid according to my status and experience," he said.
"My main complaint is over the job responsibilities given to me. Am I supposed to only look after domestic affairs? It is like they have tried to demean me," Miandad said.
