Miranda shuttles on in style

Mumbai, February 7 Stylish Hubert Miranda showed his fitness as well as strokeplay in abundance while winning his singles and doubles with commendable ease in the Badminton 45’ GD Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club and Open badminton tournament hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana on Thursday.

Hubert made his rival Kumar Hinduja run all over the court before winning his plus 45 singles with 21-9, 21-6.

And then paired with Sanjay Deshpande to beat Bipin Singh and Suryakant Adate in straight sets and without wasting any time 21-13, 21-11.

The MIG club walked away with the team championship as their opponent Chembur Gymkhana failed to show up.

Results: Team championships: MIG (Bandra) bt SCN Sports Club 2-0; Chembur Gymkhana w/o Goregaon S.C.

Men’s (plus 45) singles: (pre-quarterfinals): Rajeev Sehgal bt Milind Ghate 0-2 (conceded); Caot Suresh bt S. Nene 21-7, 21-4; V.K.Sharma bt Nitin Aroskar 21-4, 21-3; Vishwajeet Bhatnagar bt Babu Shetty 21-7,21-10; Rajiv Kalyanpur bt P.K.Jha 21-10, 21-13; Hubert Miranda bt Kumar Hinduja 21-9, 21-16.

Men’s (plus 45) doubles: (Quarterfinals): Amod Tilak/Milind Ghate bt Bharat Parekh/Kumar Hinduja 21-16, 21-14; Milind Puranpatre/Suryakant Adate bt Nitin Aroskar/T Tawde 17-21, 21-9, 21-7.

Men’s (plus 50) doubles: (quarterfinals): Hubert Miranda/Sanjay Deshpande bt Bipin Singh/S.Adate 21-7, 21-7; V.K.Sharma/Capt Suresh bt Bharat Parekh/Kumar Hinduja 21-18, 21-15.
