Mumbai, January 15 The best model for Nisha Javeri’s new spa is the lady herself; she's arguably the most beautiful woman among Mumbai’s lunch-in- Louboutiners. If anyone wants to look half as good as she does, well, all they have to do is trudge to Juhu’s Palm Springs, where Javeri is opening a luxurious spa this week.

The 35-year-old is a self-proclaimed spa junkie. “My research is based on the spas I've been to,” she says of the finest de-tox addresses in the world. “Besides I've read much, and surveyed what the spas in Mumbai have to offer too.”

Interestingly, her two favourites aren’t in done-to-death Thailand, but in England (the glamorous Chewton Glen being one of them). This is why Myrah, Javeri’s uber luxurious baby, is soaked in Victoriana. The rich teakwood slats, gold ornate mirrors and ceiling, crystal chandelier and a babbling water fountain of the standalone villa are divinely decadent. “I prefer the more luxurious royal heritage spas than the minimal, bamboo-style oriental ones,” she says.

One cannot but ask why Javeri, whose wardrobe houses bespoke pieces by top European labels, would choose wellness over fashion. “I’ve never thought of myself as a creative person,” she replies, with refreshing candour. “I think I am better at administration. Health and beauty are my passion; I have enough knowledge and interest in it to be able to share it.”

Myrah means fragrance in Greek and essential oils in Latin. The spa’s menu comprises the most luxurious, personalised treatments like holistic and alternative therapies, massages and beauty treatments like aromatherapy, Shiatsu and Swedish massages. There are mineral scrubs, anti ageing facials and detoxifying body wraps. The spa also has a package for pregnant women, that includes a special massage bed.

“The spa market is growing by the second,” Javeri gives reason for her oeuvre, “Even though there are many spas in Mumbai, there's a lot of scope and a very large demand for luxury treatments.”

Luxury, for the lady, is a particular kind of lifestyle. “To be in an ambience that takes you away from the mundane is luxury,” she adds. “It’s something extravagant and decadent.”

Even though some of her closest friends are among Mumbai's most celebrated glamorous people, Javeri has maintained a low profile. “I just feel one needs to be celebrated for the right reason. You need something important to offer; just going out to parties is not good enough for me. I always wanted other credentials. Now that I am linked to something, I don't mind the publicity,” she laughs.
