Lucknow, February 29: Concerned over frequent purse snatching of foreign tourists and misbehaviour with them in and around the Taj Mahal, Uttar Pradesh government on Friday said necessary arrangements would be made to stop recurrence of such incidents.

Making a reply to a notice in the Vidhan Sabha, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Lalji Verma said security of tourists was the ‘top priority’ of the government.

“All necessary steps will be taken to ensure full security of tourists and check incidents of purse snatching”, Verma said.

Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar also directed the government to take steps to ensure security of foreign tourists who visit the Taj city.

Earlier, replying to a question on destruction of crops by blue bulls in the rural areas, Minister for Forests Fateh Bahadur said that the Block Development Officers had been empowered to take a decision about killing the blue bulls if there was any apprehension of threat to the crops or human lives.

Replying to another question, Minister for Power Ramveer Upadhya said a proposal to hike the power tariff was under consideration of the State Electricity Regulatory Authority.
