New York A student of Indian-origin, reported missing two weeks back, has surfaced and admitted that she had run away because she felt embarrassed at being expelled from University.

Erica Desai, 19, rang up emergency number last night and told the police that she had been abducted but later admitted that she had run away, police said.

Desai told the police that she had stayed with a person she met at the airport for sometime.

Earlier, police had said that they were looking for a man and woman who were seen in the surveillance tape, using her debit card at an ATM machine in Manhattan.

Desai was reported missing from St John's University dorm shortly after being dropped there by her cousin on Jan 20.
