Amrit Singh Lovely, a resident of Phase-VII, worked as a collection agent and cable service provider in Mohali. Lovely told police that he had collected monthly bills of Rs 6,000 from Phase-2 and Phase-IIIA. “I got late and instead of depositing the cash in office, I decided to return home around 9.15 pm. Two people in a black Indica car, stopped me and asked me if I worked as a cable service provider. When I said yes, one of them got down from the car and hit me with a hockey stick. The other snatched Rs 6,000 from me and took off my wrist watch. The two also tried to snatch my mobile phone but I didn’t let go of it,” said Lovely.
He said the robbers fled when they saw people approaching the spot.
“One person from the crowd gave me a piece of paper on which he had noted down the car registration number. The robbers had put tape on the number plate at the back of the car but the person noted it down from the front plate,” he said. Mataur Police Station in-charge Harsimran Ball said a Daily Diary Report has been registered.
