New Delhi The country's political system is being influenced by "money and mafia" elements, senior Congress leader Karan Singh said and asked youth to play a role in bringing about change in the state of affairs.

Making an appeal to the youth on the eve of his 78th birthday, Singh, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, also said the current political system will get changed only when people determine to elect those who can truly serve the country and not those who enter politics to serve their needs.

"It is youth of this country who can truly change the state of affairs once they resolve to do so," Singh said, addressing his 78th birthday celebrations at Thakurdwara Shiv Mandir in East Delhi.

"Mahatma Gandhi suggested three kinds of revolutions - social, political and economic - but we are yet to achieve these goals," he said.

Local Congress leaders and others were also present when he cut a cake to celebrate the occasion.

Almost Everybody Is A Scoundrel These Days by Ritu Raj Kalra on 05 Jun 2009

Politics is the last refuge of scoundrels. British and American people are just the same and they do same when they have problems like those faced by Indians only thing is they are more polished than South Asians. Indians are probably being guided by malefic powers of the Satan. If you disagree please read Lord Of The Flies by William Golding.

The Mafia Should Be Routed by Ritu Raj Kalra on 27 May 2009

Easier said than done. But I do not know why almost all biggies in India are being controlled by the Mafia ganglords...Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani are controlling Congress which is hand in glove with the Mafia since Mahatama Gandhi's days remember what he said in 1939 on Corruption in Congress.Ratan Tata says openly he cannot do anything to curtail down corruption. He says it is very deep-rooted. It is the likes of Dawood Ibrahim and Arun Gawli whose services are rendered and they bring a bad name to India.Big B and Sonia are not excluded. They are toys in the hands of scorpio and snake like people who are spreading the fatal venom through them and they seem to be powerless. Big B needs money to remain in films and overcome his bankruptcy. Sonia needs to remain mum for the sake of her children as they should have a political career and needs money for political activities. They have forgotten that if character is lost everything is lost.

Set example at 78 by Hero Vaz on 10 Mar 2009

Karan Singh should set an example by giving up his Rajya Sabha seat to a handpicked young person who is honest, able and dedicated and, at the same time, free of the stigmas of money and mafias.

Indian Youths and Indian Politicians!! by Sanjana on 09 Mar 2009

Indian Politicians = Scoundrels!! Churchill once said "Shoudl the Britishers leave India, India woudl be in the hands of scoundrels, thughs

that's true by Vijaya Rao on 09 Mar 2009

I fully agree and I hope most of you agree that we as true Indians lost control of our political and cultural and all other affairs. These are now under the control of mafia and religious groups operating from outside the country, with local help. Our politicians and leaders have just become their representatives in Indian garbs!! The mafia has successfully infiltrated the businesses and media. Most of what we see and hear is what they want us to see/hear. There are competitive campaigns that are aimed at eroding our culture and traditions and they have found India as a safe haven for their activities because we don't resist in any form. Since the media is controlled by them, even if any one bothers to protest, it will not be covered or will receive a bad campaign to make it look like non-secular. Other countries with money and clout have found India an easy prey. I hope and pray that our youth take notice and take the control back. These people should be sent back. Jai Hind!!
