Mumbai, October 11: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray lashed out at Revenue Minister and Congress leader Narayan Rane on Saturday for making unwarranted remarks over his health.

Responding to Rane's attack on son Uddhav for bringing the ailing Sena chief to address the Dussehra rally on October 9, Thackeray said people like Rane should not worry about his health.

"If not me, should Congress President Sonia Gandhi have been brought for the rally?" he asked.

Referring to some Congress leaders' comments over his falling health and use of a support stick, the 81-year-old Sena patriarch said "it is with this stick that we will unfurl the saffron flag atop Mantralaya (state secretariat). This stick is needed to shoo away monkeys who are ruling the state," he added.

"Those who cannot digest the success of the Dussehra rally are making all sorts of speculation over my health. I don't need medical certificates from these people."

"First, these people expressed doubts if I would turn up for the rally in view of my so-called health problems. When I came for the rally, they are now saying Uddhav should not have brought me there," Thackeray said.

Bad politics will destroy our nation by Lisa on 10 Nov 2008

Will the Marathi manoos agree to put in 18 hours a day plying taxis, selling veggies, washing clothes and so on? Who's stopping them from turning into vendors of milk, food grains, and other commodities?Perhaps, the Marathi manoos considers such occupations demeaning? The truth is, these jobs have always gone abegging, and there have been any number of hungry, unemployed people from other states ready and willing to grab them. Kick the 'outsiders' out at your own peril, and see what happens. In your defence, let me say you received the worst press. You have 'made it' in one swift move. Because of Thakery people within the country fighting with each other. They r creating caste descrimination which is bad for our own developing country. These leaders will destroy our country.

Bad politics will destroy our nation by Ashok Havannavar on 16 Nov 2008

Well said Lisa. I agree with you 101 percent. The so-called Marathi manoos wants hi-fi jobs without even having the least knowledge of their job. It's like giving an aircraft to fly to these people who have never seen an aircraft in their lives. Their stubbornness is so aggressive that they still prefer to be unemployed and wait till they get the jobs of their choice (if ever they get one) and are ashamed of doing petty jobs, if provided with. In these difficult times, they don't use their logic and are tough nuts to crack. They are doomed. Nobody can save them. Theirs is a lost case.

Monkeys trying to grab by Monica on 10 Nov 2008

We employ people based on theircompetence, not caste or region. And I have never asked the vegetablevendor, breadwalla, taxi driver, dhobi, sweeper, elevator attendant, security guard, pizza delivery boy or any of the other people who make my life easier, which part of India they come from. This is Mumbai, meri jaan! Who cares where anyone comes from? Dhandais all that matters.. Mumbai is India 's most powerful magnet. Onceyou get here, you never leave. Don't believe me? Ask those innocent bhajjiwallas and doodhwallas who were beaten up and stoned by yourmen last week. Even with blood-soaked bandages around their heads, and broken hearts, they are staying put.By questioning the bona fides ofthose who have made Maharashtra their home, both of you tapped intothe vulnerabilities of the average Marathi manoos.

So much for India by Sandip on 05 Nov 2008

It is hard to imagine why we have so many supporters for the Thackeray's, is it because they showcase that they are there for the poor and the needy or is it that their GOONDARAJ continues above everything. It sickens to see that inspite of being a part of ONE INDIA they keep on maliging the image of other states whereas they should have ensured that people from other states are welcome to theirs. Do the Thackeray's not know that this is completely against the consitution of Indian and against the Fundamental Rights of an Indian. As always the COURT in India is sleeping over this and so are the politicians, noone has the BALLS to take them headon and that's a shame. It would have been better if the country was still ruled by the British anyways we are being governed by the Thackeray's and the Yadav's. We dream of a prosperous India but I doubt if we ever gonna live to see that anytime soon.

Monkey's and a Stick! by Gurunath Prakash on 11 Oct 2008

Bal Thackeray is a legend. Bal Thackeray now is a parampara, its just not a physical body. Maharastra will have Bal Thackerays as long as there is sun and Earth. Saffron Flag will fly for a thousand years. Rane's come and go. Samarth Ramdas, Shivaji,Savarkars will rule forever.

Got to hand it to the old man. Not too many people can express themselves better than Mr. Thackeray.

Bal Thackrey's Statement regarding Maharashtra Leadership by Praveen Bhatnagar on 11 Oct 2008

The last I Knew about Maharashtra, its actually being ruled by Bal Thackrey himself. The Chief Minister is just a figure head. This means he actually acknowledges his own species.

Thackeray by sbala on 11 Oct 2008

May be Thackeray knows that "People get the leaders / Govt. they deserve."

Thackeray by Kalyan Devikumar on 11 Oct 2008

I guess Mr. Rane 's father walked with iron legs instead of the walking stick and probably he does not know he might end worse than this and does not understand his Government would not last the full term and is trying to be in the focus.Whats wrong in bringing Uddhav to the rally, the same thing is being done to Rahul and all the politicians lick the feet when Sonia or Rahul turn up.Please stop using language which does not suit a politician.the contribution that the Lion(Bal saheb) has done to India is immense otherwise Rane would not have a face to go to Congress. The grooming was with sena and now he talks ill about it cause he knows he would have been sidelined.

Sena Chief by Asadulgaba on 11 Oct 2008

"Rassi jal gayi, par bal nahi gaya". Thackeray has spread hatred throughout his life. He started his momentum against Gujaratis, then Muslims, then the South Indians, then Bangalis. His words "AMCHI MUMBAI" never realized except for a failed term. Now let him first rule Maharashtra before be goes to New Delhi.

Kitni door aur by manojkumar on 12 Oct 2008

Bal Thakery ab bas bhee karo. Thoda aaram kar lo. Raj thakery has taken the club from your hand very well. You sept your whole life spreading hatred. Now Raj is doing that better than you. Long live indians and their hatred.

monkeys are ruling Maharashtra.. by Ashok on 11 Oct 2008

Whatever his style, Mr. Thakeray is a true patriot unlike psuedosecular brigade in charge of central government in Delhi and its ilk in charge of Maharashtra. I wish him good health and long life for sake of India.

Filthy Language by fakrudin on 12 Oct 2008

See the language used by Mr. Thakeray against a democratically elected Government.how come a mind can think him to be a patriot when he drew fellow indian citizens from a part of indian soil(Maharashtra).I thank God that Mr. Thakerey is not demanding Maharastra to be seperated from India.

Bal is Better Than a Gadar Muslim by Gurunath Prakash on 22 Oct 2008

Bal is for India. Even the best of Muslim ever on Indian soil is not a match. History is a testimony to this. That includes Kalam too...
