Movie Review: Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye

Font Size

Shubhra Gupta

Posted: Feb 06, 2009 at 1817 hrs IST

Cast: Randeep Hooda, Raima Sen, Arbaaz Khan

Director : Madhureeta Anand

Sometimes fantasies are better than the real thing. That's what `Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye' is based on, with the male lead being a figment of the heroine's imagination.

Good idea, bad execution: clearly, debutant director Madhureeta Anand didn't quite know how to build on its premise.

Sad housewife Maya ( Raima) wants to break free. Boorish husband ( Arbaaz) growls at her, treating her worse than a house-maid. Like all sensible wives, she switches off, retreating into the arms of good-looking fantasy-figure Jai (Randeep). And then, just when Maya's near-forgotten talent as a warbler is about to rescue her, her ogre-ish spouse gets in the way.

This could have been a nice, light-hearted lark. What we get instead is a lost opportunity, top lining Arbaaz who doesn't get to crack a single smile, Raima who tries very hard to rise above the script, and major irritant Randeep, who changes costumes and strikes poses.

Get someone with a decent IQ to review movies by shekhar on 25 May 2009

I guess Shubhra Gupta didn't get the pulse of this movie at all... its not her fault... u need to rise a bit above what you expect from bollywood - in order to really appreciate and enjoy the director's efforts..we (me and my wife) loved the whole movie.. and the best part of it is we understood the significance of Randeep's various costumes.. which err.. requires a slightly higher intellectual capability and a better understanding of cinema as a whole...( imagine somebody calling it "irritant".. (have some heart Shubhra, if not the brains :) )would strongly recommend it to every college goer and above!

Khawabon mein by Jo on 22 Mar 2009

I don't know what the critics are on about either, Randeep is so good looking and sexy that I envy Raima. Raima is beautiful. Overall a refreshing change from the typical stereotype bollywood movie.

Go go by Anu on 08 Feb 2009

Film is great relief for these days of stupid films which are made in the name of art. Randeep is so nice and funny that i wanted to be Maya. Go go Madhurita and do not feel the sting of critics, they are not doing there job.

GREAT FILM by Pallavi on 08 Feb 2009

I think Randeep was extremely funny in the film and looked like a DREAM. I would recommend this film to all women.

nice movie by kiran on 07 Feb 2009

I dont know what the reviewer's problem is with Randeep's role, i was bursting into laughter everytime he made an appearance in the movie dressed in all kinds of costumes
