Director: Nikhil Advani
Sadsack Sidhu lives in Chandni Chowk, peels potatoes for a living, and prays to Ganapati Bappa to release him from his daily drudge. And then one day, everything changes : adventure beckons, and Sidhu takes off to China.
Smart basis for a film, because Akshay Kumar's humble Old Delhi roots and his travels to Oriental hot spots where he picked up his killer karate moves, is part of urban legend. But instead of mining his past experiences, the script is forced into being a vehicle for its star, not the story, so what you get is an overlong Akshayrama, which perks up only in fits and starts, and is never more than mildly entertaining in its best moments.
`Chandni Chowk To China' is more a patchily-executed combo of a desi `Kung Fu Panda', and `Karate Kid', than an exhilarating transcontinental journey. It's spiked with a Manmohan Desai-ish lost-and-found side plot. It also lifts from chop-suckey Hong Kong clunkers where the hero mows down a million bad guys, sending them flying through the air in familiar choreographed arcs. Where is this film, a lax mish-mash of genres and styles, coming from?
In his zeal to prove that he can do more than being a buffoon, Akshay gets to cry, as well as laugh, and fight and dance and sing, occasionally letting in his leading lady (Deepika, in a double role), who is only required to dress in Mandarin collars, and kick butt (as the bad girl), and whip out a photo of her missing father, and shed a few tears (as the good one). Ranvir Shorey, who's called Chopstick, roams around looking for something to do, and the Chinese characters, including chief villain Hojo (Gordon Liu) who gets his jollies by beheading people, are mere ciphers.
The result is a classic case of missed opportunities. For Akshay, who's been busting the box office with his gormless local yokel acts, this mega-budget, actually-shot-on-location-in-China, backed-by-a-Hollywood-giant film would have been the start of a glorious new year. For director Nikhil Advani, it would have been the chance to forget his last disastrous outing `Salaam-e-Ishq'. And for producers Warner Bros, a signal to amp up its India plans, as well open doors to other American studios.
Right in the beginning, a minor character asks Sidhu : are you stupid? He nods. That's prescience.

Movie was really good and 1000% great then RBDJ. RBDJ was worser than the worst a fully money and time loss movie. Akshay I think some people are trying to do negative publicity of your movie. But don't worry you know what you are. I think they are scared of you that's why they are doing this. But you have struggled a lot to get this position so you know how to come out of this situation. CCTC is really a good movie and action scenes in the movie are really good. I liked that you have done an action movie after a long time. This kind of stupid people will always come into your road but they will not win because you know that they are wrong. I haven't see your movie Tasveer but I am sure that one will also be a great movie. You know why they are afraid of you because they can't do what you can do that why. Pathetic and psychic people
I think the film was a good watch, the thrills, the action, the comedy, and Akshay within it all was good. Yes I agree that it lacked something, but at the end of the day, any action comedy wil be made with a thought process and mind set which this film set out at. I think people who were dissappointed are the ones who were expecting to really enjoy a great comedy offering from AK, with not much emotional twist which this film invested in.
CC2C is worser than than the worst..A good example of how bad a movie can be made..Thumbs down to Akshay and Dipika..for the stupidest act!!
Chandni Chowk to China is the worst movie a human being can see. it is so bad to see Akshay try out the magic again but guess wat there is no Paresh Rawal or Sunil or Om Puri or Anil Kapur or Nana. so this movie goes down the drain...Akshay you should have included at least Paresh in this movie...it would definatly be a hit.
Chandni Chowk to China is the worst movie ever that Akshay has done...wat a pathetic movie Deepika...u guys rot!
A good movie...which can be watched once......better than Rab ne bana di jodi.....
i'm no movie expert but cc2c was baaaaaaad...movies dnt get any worse than this..and i don't even hate akshay and im saying this
THIS IS SUCH A FLOP AND PATHATIC MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN, I CAN SAY ITS A RUBISH AND BIGEST FLOP. WASTE OF TALANT AND MONEY. PLS. DONT WATCH YOU WILL WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. I CANT BELIVE ACTOR LIKE AKSHAY DIDNT READ THE SCRIPT. DIRECTOR AND STORY WRITER SHOULD BE SACKED.
Very good movie. Much much better than the waste Rabh ne ba.. of SRK.
Movie is good.... Akshay did his job very well and ppl sayin waste of money and time blah blah, are really very stupid they jst knw how to CRITICIZE others.....
the script by advani was poor.but akki did justice to his stupid caracter.glad that akkis next film is a psychological thriller.also rab ne was no better or entertaining than cc2c.the entire movie consisted of poor jokes cracked by srk and vinay pathak.wonder who went to see the film.atleast i didnt
nikhil advani comes up with the worst of all bad scripts.cant blame akki.with such a bad concept, had it even been aamir or srk the movie would still be bad.glad that akkis next film,'8 by 10'is a psychological thriller.high time akki gave up comedy and do what he does best-action.ps-rab ne was also a stupid movie yet he media gavie it 3.5 stars.stop being biased media.
the worst film ever , total money and time loss !
keep it akshey lgge rho
This is a waste movie. Don't waste your time and money...!!
this is the most worst movie in indian film history.waste of time .waste of money.i want my money back.
I loved the movie. It's funny and the story moves fast. I even liked the special effects very much. The short quips through out the movie kept me giggling.Must watch despite the strong critics to put the movie down. I believe that there are Bollywood lobbies working to tarnish the Akshay image...
yes akshay is better than SRK and Salman but fans of SRK dominate the news media.SRK and Salmans fans are some of the worst fanatics and they would change names and come in full force to discredit other actors who are proving better than them.infact it was SRK who made his fortunes by crying and running after ladies in indian cinema while Salman has no respect.
Wastage of time .. wastage of money... old story ,,,worst making ... the only new thing in the hindi movie is ... CHINA
This is movie is better then other movies recently. My only advice to media and movie review people's please don't put the negative thoughts for this movie.please do watch this movie u will find out thanks;)
are yua stupid??? its a complete waste of time and money.I went for it with a happy mood. But the movie made me cry. Is it a film or joke?
i would like to appreciate Mr. Rakes view that it is just rumors that its a waste of time and money. When a star become superstars then this type of rumors comes against the star. And pls go to see the movie in fresh mind then u will like the movie.
Ok it was a mindless comedy. But it was meant to be. Whereas look at Ghajini, RNDJ, Race, Tasan, and even Jodha Akbar..they all tried hard to be serious..and look what had happened ! One must congratulate the makers because it has most brillient stunts in terms of hindi films. Visual effects are good and of course Akshy Kumar and Mithun both have done a good job. What I think is instead of giving double role to Dipika, they should have stuck to only one, and should have given more stress to romance.
I would like to say something to this person that use your commonsence before u wana say somethng..A movie doesn't mean for only stunts..And i think this person is not looking at the reviews properly and making his own reviews..This kind of peoples are really spoiling our bollywood movies by giving foolish comments..
This is going way down baby. A Bomb
how stupid i'ws 2 see cc2c. ofcource it is a horrifying movie and didn't expect this from so called Aki hha haa haha
Total bakwas... No heads or tails... I have no doubt that Ak is a good actor.. but this mess is fault of director... what the hell was he thinking.. I would suggest.. DONT WATCH.. I could not bear this for more then 30 min..
this was the most phathetic movie i have ever seen n plz akshay don dese type of silly movies ur a very gud n tallented actor n dere is no script y hva u chosen such a bad movie em shocked
Check out the review of Chandni Chowk in the Chicago Tribune. An alternative view that give the movie a 2 out of 5 stars rating. They slam Mr, sorry Dr. Kumar's performance.
