Director: Romilla Mukherjee
Seventy-five year old Naani is independent, spirited, and a barrel of fun. She’s put an obnoxious son’s behaviour behind her, and is helping look after her grandson. She also minds her divorced daughter’s little girl.
The two grandkids and Bruno the dog are her faithful companions as she goes about cracking the case of a missing little girl, with aplomb, leaving the local CID red-faced.
‘Detective Naani’ could have been a perfect summer hols film: what better than a cuddly-but-sharp Miss Marple like figure, a couple of smart children, and a bunch of teenagers all fighting for good over evil?
Ava Mukherjee, who plays the spunky naani, is good at her job; the kids are smart but not irritatingly precocious, and the bad guys, who preside over a gang of child-lifters, are suitably dislikable.
But the story-telling needed to have been much crisper. And at two hours twenty minutes, it is way too long to keep short attention spans fully engaged.

If someone ask about Detective Naani from me who have seen it would give this 9 out of 10. This is One film which after 15 minutes of run time keeps you engaging and countinusly giggling till the very last shot and i dont remember any film in recent time like this. So dont wait for these corrupt critics to tell what is good for you to watch, ask your friends who have seen films like DETECTIVE NAANI. and if you ask me i'll say go for it man you will have time of your life :-)

There are viewer who find few drawbacks, one is that this film doens't have any big star, but is it really a drawback???? a film which is full of content and has very cute factor in it should be viewed with that perspective? and that too in the time when films of big stars are falling on their face. And when you watch it you will feel that there is no need to have star in this kind of story.
