Mulayam may join hands with BJP to form govt in UP: Digvijay

Allahabad Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh targeted Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for making “not a single utterance against BJP and Sangh Parivar” during election campaign and claimed Yadav may not hesitate to tie up with BJP to form a government in Uttar Pradesh.

“I wonder why has Mulayam Singh Yadav been so soft towards BJP during his election campaigns. He has been attacking every political party but has made not single utterance against BJP and the Sangh Parivar,” Singh said at an election meeting here.

“Only one inference can be drawn (from this). The SP supremo is keeping all options open. He is desperate to form the next government in the state and will not hesitate to join hands with the BJP to attain his objective,” he said.

The Congress general secretary reiterated his charge that members of the Sangh Parivar were involved in terror activities and flayed BJP leader L K Advani for having suggested involvement of Muslims in such acts.

“Advani keeps saying all Muslims are not terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. He owes an explanation to the Muslim community as now his own ilk have been found to be involved in such acts in places like the Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad,” Singh said.

Taking potshots at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, he said, “She has been raising the slogan bahujan hitay bahujan sukhay, which means for the benefit and prosperity of most people. But as a matter of fact, during her tenure only those associated with ruling Bahujan Samaj Party headed by her are happy. The rest are suffering.”

Deflecting the Votes!! by Suprasanna Bhat on 07 Feb 2012

Congress (Diggy) is playing the game of Chess!! If this allegation is true...then SP supporters/voters may shun them and have to choose between Congress or BSP. If this is false - then SP has to deny and should have truck with Congress to form a govt after the elections. Congress is playing dirty politics...

Lost hope? by M.S. on 07 Feb 2012

Has Digvijay Singh lost hope? why does he think BJP will get sufficient seats to make an impact in UP? Even BJP itself does not have such illusions!

KPCC by Menon on 07 Feb 2012

Mr. Singh, why r u worried about BJP & Mulayam cooperation is going to communal. Here, in Kerala Gods Own Country your party is having tie-up with all communal parties and giving them free hand without investigation. Thachankary former senior police officer was suspended till left front leave the CM post, after UDF (congress led coaliation) came to power immediately reinstalled him then later suspended, it is shame for the state government. And inteligence wing given complete email (258 Nos) of SIMI cooperated people, immediately CM told this is not correct, somebody made purposefully and taken a police officer scapegoat. On Sunday, North Kerala, during Prophet Muhammed birthday celebration more than 100 people attended with military uniform. Now all major papers reported in small column in 3 or 4 page without given any importance because they scared about this militia. This type of ignorance you are creating lot of terrorist in India against common citizen. Please stop this.

U P Elections by T N U Nair on 07 Feb 2012

As per opinion poll, U P is heading for hung assembly. It is being reported that Rahul Gandhi does not want a tie-up with any party for forming the next government. He should, ideally, stick to this principle. Such a stalemate will force President Rule in the State. It is a great opportunity to impose President Rule. The Centre should use this opportunity and appoint someone like T N Sheshan or current Army Chief V K Singh or someone with high integrity and administrative skills as U P Governor and help the state get rid of Criminals and Corrupticians.

Diggy - the eternal joker in the pack by Ahaan Arte on 07 Feb 2012

I have heard politicians make statements which are wild, but Digvijay Singh takes the cake. The BJP is unlikely to have the numbers to add to either the Samajwadi or BSP to attain a majority. The only party to be able to do this will be the Congress. After all the way the TMC has been acting at the Centre, the Congress will need the support of either the Samajwadi party or the BSP to survive its full term. So Digvijay Singh - please keep your mouth closed and this will be to the benefit of the Congress.

DIGVIJAYA AND MULAYAM by sadakchap on 07 Feb 2012

Digvijaya would have proved to be a good storyteller. A very vivid imagination and tendency to cast aspersions on everone is his forte. Even if Mulayam had no idea of linking with BJP, Digvijaya has given him food for thought. In politics, as Sharad Pawar once remarked, nothing is definite. Impossibles happen-whoever expecte Dev Gowda would become the Prime Minister of the country. So Digvijaya: events may lead to such a situation, your prophecy may come true. You have put words in everybodys mouth.

Paragon of Virtue by Swapan Chakravarthy on 07 Feb 2012

Sour grapes? Congres may want does it have the moral stature to claim to be a paragon of virtue?

Diggyraja's dirty tricks by Welingkar on 07 Feb 2012

Diggy raja is desperately trying to ensure Muslim Voters don't rally under the SP before voting day. Now, we know why the Congress reposes its faith in him and why Digvijay Singh is in charge of the "Dirty Tricks" department in the Congress.

whom is he fooling - not himself? by arun kumar on 07 Feb 2012

Digvijay Singh had been CM in past but his utterances are not matched to the status of being an ex CM. Why criticize others Mulayam Singh, Mayavati or BJP %u2013 will that solve anything? BSP and SP are supporters of UPA-2 in parliament how can they go with BJP then? Sonia Gandhi very tactfully by playing secular card isolated BJP and reduced them to this position today but the utterances of Digvijay is putting to disaster good work of Sonia Gandhi.

Are you jalous ? by Hindustanilion on 07 Feb 2012
