Mumbai, January 5: The Shiv Sena came out in defence of persons arrested in connection with the molestation of two women in Mumbai on the New Year night saying ‘our belief is that no one would dare to commit such misdeed’.

"Our belief is that no one would dare to commit such a misdeed infront of their near and dear one and hence we feel the arrested boys might be innocent," Sena spokesman Sanjay Raut said.

He said while the whole incident is condemnable, the parents and neighbours of the accused have informed Sena that the arrested boys could not do such a thing.

He said, according to the parents of the accused among those arrested two to three boys were with their elder brothers.

I think before supporting the culprits shiv Sena must remember the moment when the mud was thrown on mrs. thacrey statue.

transparent screen awrads by sunil rajopadhye on 08 Jan 2008

this is regarding screen awards:i respect screen awards for their integrity.so when i saw the title sponsers name as ' nokia' and incidently shahrukh khan is theirbrand ambassador. i hope this angle will not considered while giving the best actor award.i have immense trust on screen that they will not have vested interests like other media films awards.i'm sure you will consider abhisheks or akshay khannas in 2007 as they performed much betterthan any other actor last year.

Why not car? by Tinga muni on 07 Jan 2008

I still do not understand why the hell people visiting this posh 5 Start hotel would go in Auto Rikshaw instead of in Car?

shame on shiv-sena by Vivek L on 06 Jan 2008

Shiv Sena should be ashamed of making this a political issue by classifying the accused as marathi and non-marathi. Are they trying to say that no marathi man is capable of such acts and its only people from rest of india who can do something like that ? or is shiv sena supporting them because they are poor class people and the victims rich ? and rich dont vote ???

Nexus between the the Police and the Politicians by Hudda K. S. on 06 Jan 2008

Let Shive Sena Inteligencde provide and make available the real culprits to team Police working under Officers other than Commissioner Jhadav and his deputies who has a bad record of heading the Bombay Police for allowing gangs of extortists in suburbs of Greater Mumbai under different Political Tags even the said tags are ex;posed to him in writing.Besides the Govt should explain the reasons for his extention in office even for3 months and his nexsus with the Shiv Sena like that of Tyagi who worked under orders from Matushri

Mumbai Molestation by Kelkar on 06 Jan 2008

Hey Satya: I think you should go back to school. You've the unmitigated gall to write in English when you can't spell for nuts!! The photos taken by the two Hindustan Times Reporters have not been faked. Are you, and others like you, insinuating that the two unfortunate girls brought this upon themselves? Wake up man, and stop trying to peddle your half-cocked logic and morals to others....As for the Police Chief Jadhav, I'd like to see his reaction if his own kin (daughters, nieces) underwent the trauma of being pawed all over in a crowd.

Mumbai molestation by Name supplied on 06 Jan 2008

If Congress and Communists can protect a confirmed terrorist, Afjal Guru, why Shiv Sena cann't protect their men who moleste girls ? Have you forgotten, not long ago, Shiv Senics were beating up young girls in Nagpur on St. Valentin's day. Shiv Senics must remember, Hindustan kisi ke baap ke jaagir nahi hai.

Mumbai Molestation: 'Arrested boys might be innocent' by Yogesh Datta on 06 Jan 2008

After reading some blogs, I am ashamed that Indian men are so vulger and devoid of any moral fabric. In South-east Asia girls walk freely and no one bother them. It proves that India men are worms of a sewer.

Reasons for defending not known by Rahul on 06 Jan 2008

When everyone is condemning the incident it is strange that SENA is supporting the culprits. To my understanding, the boys involved are very much attached to SENA and it is apparent that the SENA is making grounds to defend them now and future.

Re:Reasons for defending not known by ganesh on 06 Jan 2008

it is yet to be proved that those arrested are the real culprits. they might have gone there just as to see what is happening. was it wrong?

Ethical Governance by skannath on 06 Jan 2008

It will be interesting to know why so many people attacked these nri and why they are hesitant to lodge complaint? Indian society has not experienced Politics of Envy, to the degree it is practised elsewhere. When there are differences scores can be settled by totally unknown. This incident has affected Indian psyche for sure, but its high time people take a stand not to do other peoples dirty work, before saying yes know why they are doing it and in good conscience take a stand against it if wrong.

Mumbai molestation by situ mistry on 06 Jan 2008

people---i am not convinced...i am not sure i will ask my sister or daughter to go and attend a party at marriott on new years eve...simply wont...those girls were asking for it...its like you going to jammu kashmir and then crying foul when terrorists attack...mumbai police is an overworked force and has more important things to do like keep terrorists out and manage the gangs etc...do not get carried away by blindly following western models of disgust...that shows the slavish mentality of our people...think for yourself and think about all the other women and men in the country who need food to eat...not two bimbos from california who are shaking ass and are in mumbai to have a good time..

Mumbai molestation by P.Barman on 06 Jan 2008

Mr Mistry should chose his language carefully in attacking and remember his City's reputation is on line and refusal by police to register the FIR was delayed I will not be surprised by the goonda element and polerance by locals. Remember you are taxing the tourists and not providing the sevices.

Mumbai molestation by guru2969 on 06 Jan 2008

Hi Situ Mistry,You speak out of envy, your sister or daughter need not attend a party to undergo this kind of barbaric act. They could be attacked anywhere. Secondly please do not speak about lavishness or people do not have enough to eat. When was the last time you sacrificed your own functions to pacify the poor's hunger. Your sister or daughter could not get an opportunity to shake their ass hence your cry. Meanwhile for your info these girls were with their relatives. Mumbai police is not meant for protecting terrorist alone but to maintain law and order.

Mumbai Molestation by guru on 06 Jan 2008

Dear Mistry,You are completely wrong. Your sister or daughter did not attend a party on new year's eve at Mariott because they were not invited. No point blaming the time of the disaster, you have to condemn this act as probably it could have happened to your sister or daughter too (last minute shopping from the sabji mandi). However you need to note these women were accompanied by their relatives too. Terrorists alone is not the danger when you breed this kind of mentality of supporting the wrong doers. Your accusation of blindly following western models is irrelevant as this act is not justified even in our own culture. India is a fast growing economy and is much different from 1947. Do not come out with lame statements like we do not have food to eat etc., You can see India better from outside India and probably then realise the charm. These girls are not bimbos from california they are the very indians who felt to be in India to welcome 2008. Your daughter and sister can see the freedom demonstrated by civilised world if you broaden your horizon than still glorifying the Draupadi type of actions.Jai Maharashtra.

Stupid Satya by NS on 06 Jan 2008

As if shock of Shiv Sena actually defending the culprits wasn't enough, I read someone defending Shiv Sena's stand here.Ofcourse, such arguements try to make some logical appeal. But their shallowness shall be rightly exposed. It seems Satya is convinced that if girls expose their body, its man's divine resonsibility to molest such girls. His flawed logic becomes evident when he says:"If you support disco-night club cultures, then why cry for simple molestations?"What anyone does in night club is out of choice, molestation is enforced. If Satya doesn't understand difference between freedom and force then before anything his morality comes under question.

Moral Policemen Have to Call It A Quit by Harish Velji on 06 Jan 2008

SatyaYou are talking crap. If people go to clubs it is their problem but they do have same rights others to go about doing their activities which is legal. It is not anyone’s job to become moral policeman. It is an Indian tradition to blame everybody and everything else. High time people took notice that there is problem here and no one deserves what has happened.

Open more Disco-Night clubs by Satya on 06 Jan 2008

Those who criticising Shiv Sena, actually supporting Disco-Night club cultures. If you support disco-night club cultures, then why cry for simple molestations? I bet, most of you will molest pretty girls, given the chance. Don't be hypocrites. Those who feel shy with the word sxx, they are the most por no movie watchers. Why not blame the girls, for exposing fleshes with half-nacked body? Ohh, we all like to see such open fleshes, but just show our hypocrisy. Both boys and girls must stop the extremes and disco-night club cultures must stop. Else, keep watching such occurances every cities.

ANTI INDIAN MEDIA by SUDHA GARAS on 06 Jan 2008

Shiv sena hypocrisy by Arun on 05 Jan 2008

when did shiv sena start listening to the views of peopel, this is pure hypocrisy, a day back they were blaming it on the outsiders.. now when they realize few arrested are local maharashtrians they came to their defence. come on guys u cant absolve anyone involved , be a man

Double-mouth Sena by Bala (ko) Fuckray on 06 Jan 2008

you're right... they are blaming and projecting immigrants from UP

Molestation !!! by An Angry citicen on 05 Jan 2008

What sort of a city am I living in !!! Where the political parties would try to save molestors from what is rightly due to them!!How can they say that "nobody would do such a thing" - when it has actually been done - and that too on camera. Also come to think of it - what was the photographer doing - clicking photographs - when he should have been trying to save the women involved. Just my say

mumbaiites stand up to injustice by Pranit on 06 Jan 2008

Photos do not lie. Probably the boys dad might be pals with the sivasena. All those involved should be brought to task irrespective who they are.

I am not sure if the last part of what you have said is right by Karan on 05 Jan 2008

a major portion of your message is rightly said, but then you get simply emotional which is bad for life and bad for reality. If the photographer went to save the girl, then he would have been beaten up and this story would not have come out. I appreciate the phoographer for following good journalism and bringing out this story. My friends if he had listened to his heart you would not have got a chance to know India. At least he was not a spin doctor of some news media channels that spin stories all the time. He made a huge awareness to citizens and has probably made them start taking a second look at their own lecherous inclinations and how they themselves would have reacted.
