Islamabad Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf might visit India along with other countries this month to deliver guest lectures.

Musharraf's lecture tour of foreign countries, including India, had been firmed up before the Mumbai terror attacks in November, a source close to the former military ruler told ‘The News’ daily.

Musharraf is expected to start the tour with his first lecture in the US on January 14, the paper reported.

He will also visit some European countries, Hong Kong and China. Musharraf intends to raise funds for his future political activities from the lucrative lecture, sources said.

The former president is reportedly waiting for the end of a two-year bar on entering politics. Constitutional expert S M Zafar said that according to existing regulations, Musharraf cannot participate in politics for two years from November 28, 2007 the day he stepped down as army chief.

Sources said Musharraf was currently not involved in any political activities. He was waiting for November 27 this year when there would not be any legal inhibitions on his joining politics, they said.

"We admit that Musharraf plans to join politics on the expiry of the two-year constitutional ban, but not right now," said a close confidant of the former President.

There is also speculation that Musharraf has selected three close aides lawyer Muhammad Ali Saif, Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani and Alia Malik to launch political activities on his behalf.

The former President has reportedly purchased a multi-million home in the heart of Islamabad to be used as an office by the trio.

However, Musharraf is believed to have developed serious differences with two top leaders of the opposition PML-Q party, which supported him when he was in power. PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain reportedly gave Musharraf the cold shoulder when they met last week at the wedding of the son of former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in Lahore.

Musharraf has kept a low profile since he quit as President in August last year to avoid facing impeachment by the Pakistan People's Party-led government. He recently made his first foreign visit to Britain after resigning as President.

Musharraf's lecture tour by Dilip Mahanty on 04 Jan 2009

India should do the right thing by its citizens and cancel Musharraf's lecture tour. Musharraf has been an India baiter right from the beginning and is part of the problem currently besetting India. It will be most unfortunate if the promoters of his visit do not see his complicity in formenting trouble in India! Do Indians want to reward an already discredited person by paying him money to tell lies? I hope better sense prevails among his promoters. The question to ask is are these people acting in the country's interest?

Musharaf's lecture tour by usha on 07 Mar 2009

In reply to Mr Dilip Mahanty on Mr Pervez Musharf's lecture tour, i must say one thing that we must not be so narrow in our views or in jusdging somebody. See a person as a whole and not see certain actions and jusdge him. With all respect to Musharafiji i must that only a true and clear man can understand somebody as strong as him. During his time Pakistan was in a better position and as neighbours we were not threatend barring a few incidence. He was good for his own country and for all purposes. Only a strong leader like him can rule and control the troubled country. People who dont understand him is due their lack of intelligence to jusdge between the good and the bad

Mush the Paki soldier and US back-stabber by Hero Vaz on 04 Jan 2009

Doesn't anyone in India have the sense to tell Mush to go get stuffed? Or do they want him to enter India so that he can be shot at sight? The US should welcome him so that they can arrest him and try him for the crime of back-stabbing them and betraying their trust.

Musharraf, the guest lecturer, may visit India in Jan by M.Arun on 04 Jan 2009

Has the former dictator, Musharraf; of the terrorist state of Pakistan becomes a preacher? Preacher to the faithful jihadis to enthrone himself in the throne of the terrorist Islamic Republic of Pakistan in two years. He is scheming something very big and dangerous; the world needs to take action to prevent terror to be unleashed on the world by this vicious jihadi monster.

A Criminal by Deepti on 03 Jan 2009

He is a fool. Does this man has any sense of talk. When a Paki woman was raped and he told media that women comeup with these stories to get foreign attention and citizenship. How can a man with such mentality be invited in India?

Kargil Demon by Vivek Nair on 03 Jan 2009

This is outrageous. Who invited Musharaff to lecture in India and what he will lecture in India? You are inviting this 'father of all terrorists' to lecture in India..? Ridiculous.... To pocket money for his next 'avathar' in pakistani politics, rather than lecturing his stupid ideas to the indians, let him approach the opium growing Mullahs in Afghanistan because they are highly indebted to him.

NO MUSHARRAF by RANA on 03 Jan 2009

NO SIR, HE IS NOT VISITING INDIA. My countrymen, please let us ensure that this man does not enter our motherland. We will protest, by all possible means, starting with writing in this column and if it is not understood by the powers that be, then WE WILL TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP. Who soever has invited him. Please get the message loud and clear. Musharraf is NOT COMING TO INDIA.PERIOD.

Arrest Him by Anthony Joseph on 03 Jan 2009

Musharraf has to be banned from visiting India. In case he is allowed to set foot on Indian soil, he should be arrested and made to undergo narco analysis to prove the Pakistani establishment's tactit approval right from Kargil to Mumbai attacks.

Ban Musharraf from coming to India by Prasad on 03 Jan 2009

Any visit by Musharraf, the artichet of Kargil, to India for a lecture tour will not be welcome. And what for Musharraf is required here. Who are those secular idiots who have invited him here. First of all they should be jailed for eing anti Indian in their activities. How can you call Musharraf who back stabbed India. Musharraf is not Clinton and he should understand that. Simply outrageous.

Mush the guest terrorist by B K Sharma on 03 Jan 2009

I hope some one in India will watch the interview that Mush gave to a Pakistani channel a few days ago where he said that the Pak army will smash India. Mush is the culprit of Kargil, how can he be allowed to visit India as a private citizen. He should be listed as the 21st terrorist and arrested on arrival in India.

Musharaf in india by Sikh Warrior on 03 Jan 2009

Killer of Kargil in india.....for what? to earn money by lecturing indians!

Musharraf's lecture tour by Chandramohan Shinde on 03 Jan 2009

If Mush wants to raise funds for his political activities in Pakistan, let him beg in the streets of Islamabad and raise funds. Or let him denounce his citizenship of that terrorist country and settle in his earstwhile haveli in New Delhi as a tenant.

Musharaf's lecture by usha on 07 Mar 2009

Only people with low thinking can talk in this manner. Musharafji manner in raising funds should not disturb anybody. Atleast he is not like some of us who use other means to make money. Don not diminish his role as a politician. He certainly is much above us. But to understand him u need to be clear in our minds. Is there anyone to condemn our leaders who have killed so many innocents.
